Space Chase

This should be a fun ride.
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.

[...unWARP!!!]

Good evening.

Hey, would you believe this? ANOTHER dream of Ralph's comics!!

Basically, I was Nip, and in this movie, only the story flowed as IF that stowaway kid hadn't shown up. And you guessed it: the ships launch, I escape in the middle of a warp, I hide out (in a stairwell, of all places), repaint the ship, and all is well.

I thought I saw a few people from my church, whom I had to explain the "new" story to them as I went along, and they didn't seem to mind.

The T-1000 seemed to be there too, but somehow I gave him the slip even though he could see the infared marks of my footprints :D

I SHOULD stop going to bed at 2 am ;)

¡Zacatepóngolas!

Until next time, remember:

Good evening.

I dunno - Mercury is too flippant for that scene. I was thinking O Fortuna, or maybe Ride of the Valkyries if you wanted classical; something John Williamsish if not.

Nah. They want something not instantly recognisable to the average filmgoer, but they can't afford to comission a score.

Although I love it, "Flight of the Valkeryies" has been done to death. Not to mentionthe cash they would probably have to spend to buy it for use. Would you? Is it public domain yet? Also, I just do not think that Valkeryes is the right tune for this. Something kind of somber, yet quick, very quick and grabbing tempo, with a good amount of base with the occasional high spike to throw you. Thankfully I can say all that because I am not a musician :P

Die Walküre was written in 1856, and The Ring of the Nibelung was finished in 1874. Planets was first performed in 1918, I recall.

Perhaps "Mars"? John Williams seems to have got a lot of inspiration from that piece.

"Mars" is a little too strident for the scene. Is good as a theme for the enemy battleship....

I've basically concluded that the symphony "the Planets" would be the primary source of music for the movie. It's thematic, and it covers all possible moods...

Hmmm."Mercury" would sure break the mold for sci-fi action-flick music. Maybe get the viewers to pay closer attention while they try to figure it out.

Me? I'd see if I could use the theme from "Footloose". No, really! Don't look at me like that!

Okay... How about "Hall of the Mountain King"? Everyone's heard that one. I even have a version done by Apollo 100, that I ripped from an LP.

Now there's a group I haven't thought of or heard in a long while.....and their version of ITHoTMK is really well done.

For Down And Dirty Flight Ops, the only "Mercury" one needs is Freddie
Mercury -- along with Brian May, John Deacon, and Roger Taylor.

Yup -- "One Vision", by Queen. (For the reason why, watch _Iron Eagle_. :) )

Budget, people. It's got to be either public domain or by someone desperate for exposure. There are a lot of good bands nobody's heard of that might work on a movie like this at a price Purloined Letter can afford, but PLS is based in the boonies and there aren't many good unheard of bands out there.

You called? "Hot Rod Lincoln" would be a better one. Of course if "Silent Running" had P.D.Q. Bach's Peter Schickele score the soundtrack, nothing is sacred.

Do you think Kubrick cared that "The Blue Danube" had been done to death?
