Wait, then does she speak Japanese, or did she just do the English dub?

Um....question? If the executives wanted teenaged appeal, then why hire a twelve year old??

1) The show was probably originally in English, and was trying to imitate Anime, much like Teen Titans does. Hence, she did not speak Japanese, but was taught enough words to carry off the anime impression.

2) Executives change their minds about shows all the time. One exec likes a show, and gives it the green light, another comes along and nixes it for another set of reasons.

This is the great american culture absorption machine at work. Remember, pizzas once were foreign food. I suspect sometime this century that the "anime import" trade will balance betwee US imports from Japan and Japanese imports from the US.

Executives can and do cancel shows for far more insignificant reasons.
As the creator of the Incredibles noted, it's all politics. Executive X approves a project, project lingers in production, executive X gets fired, and his replacement executive Y is terrified of being associated with anything executive X touched. So they'll either drop the project entirely or shuffle it off to development hell to die.
Back when they were still shopping "the Incredibles" around, one exec tried to ashcan the project by telling him "your main character is wearing red-- our focus groups show that audiences don't like characters who wear red."

I'm guessing they meant that teenage boys were more interested in watching G.I. Joe type stuff as opposed to Barbie type stuff.

I don't know... I think I figured it all out a long time ago. See, when most boys my age were watching He-Man, I was watching She-Ra. Was it because I was a bit quirky or something? Not really... Let's see what each show had to offer.

He-Man: Half-naked men with big muscles running around fighting.
She-Ra: Slender, shapely women running around in mini-skirts fighting evil.

Hmmm... for me, it was a no-brainer. Plus, Catra won me over, too. Sure, she was a dork, but something about her voice... 8-)

Family guy... The Tick...

Anyways I've been wondeing. If Eugene is a fan of the show and it was done almost before he was born and only lasted 12 episodes. Umm how?

Did they remake it or something?

Heheheheh.

Dude. How long ago was the original Star Trek aired? And how many episodes?

And HOW MANY trekkies were still running around before even the first Star Trek movie?

I rather bathe in Love Canal than touch that one... circa 1977.

Anyone think on the "How Eugene can be a fan of a show that happened before he was born" thing?

Cause I'd kinda like to know how RH is gonna explain it a bit. I'm kinda confused.

That's not necessarily a problem with anything. I'm a pretty big fan of Danny Kaye and Abbott and Costello, and they were around a lot longer before I was born.

Well, the He-Man show did have Teela, the Sorceress and Evil-Lynn, so it wasn't just half-naked guys.

The internets!!!! Ebay most likely, or if he were older, I'd say an Anime convention.

They don't look like teenager's from the look of their peer's.

Thelma is roughly 17 which would make eugene somewhere in teh neighborhood of about 12 IMO.
