No, you couldn't. The Republican's have not lost ground in the Senate, House, or the White House. If they had, you could. But they have not.
Apparently, you are unfamiliar with history.
You weren't discussing history, you were discussing the present. The Democrats of today do not resemble the Democrats of even 30 years ago. Same with Republicans.

Which was my point. The Democrats of 30 years from now will not resemble the Democrats of now, ditto with the Republicans.

Both sides are guilty of the same behavior, the wheel will turn, and in a few years the Democrats will be saying 'look, we took back the house, that proves how superior we are'. And a few years after that, the Republicans will say 'lool, we took back the house, that proves how superior we are'.

And meanwhile, those of us who pay attention and aren't sheep to the party line will be saying, 'yeah, you were full of shit then, you are full of shit now, but half the population has below average intelligence and you can sway them easily. Whichever side promises more cake and circuses or scares more people into thinking they need protection will win'.

Currently, I see us swinging back to cake and circuses, which means the Democrats will rise to power again. Then, someone will convince the populace they need protection from the boogeyman, and it will swing back to Republicans.

I keep hoping Americans will wise up, but as I said, half the population is below average intelligence, and 95% of the population to lazy to think for themselves.

I like what one of my co-workers said at the time:
We should elect all three; Perot to run the nations finances, Bush to handle international affairs, and Clinton to smile and look good for the camera.
Well, perhaps he wasn't that polite, but that's the general idea. :P :)

Perot was a nutburger. Literally. As in paranoid-delusional.

His only accomplishment was to divide the conservative vote... TWICE... and effectively hand the country over to "Billary" for eight years.

We're STILL mopping up after that mess.

You want to know what the difference is between Democrats and Republicans?

Republicans get elected, then infuriate everyone by acting like Democrats.

Democrats get elected, then infuriate everyone by acting like themselves.
