SUPPORT FLAG BURNING!

Yes! I support flag burning!:o
And so should you!
Yesterday, I happened to glance over at the flag hanging in the back yard of a neighbor down the street.
Actually, I suppose I should say I glanced over at his flags, since the original flag had long since shredded into six or seven sad, faded pennants.
That got me looking around. There are a lot of flags hanging out there that look like they've been up since 9/12/01.
Far from symbols of patriotism, they are embaressing limp rags.
Bad enough the individual houses, but what concievable excuses do businesses have for flying the colors to death?
Below is a synopsis of some of the federal laws regarding the flag. How many of these people actually take the flag down at night? I don't expect them to know how to fold it properly, but is taking it down at night somehow beyond their patriotic fervor?
The flag isn't a bumber sticker for your yard, people!
:x
My personal plan is to print the below document out and mail it to houses or businesses that are mistreating the flag. I doubt any of them are deliberately violating the law or disrespecting the colors. A simple, anonymouse reminder should wake them up.
Please, if you see similar flags, do so as well.
The preferred manner of disposing an old flag is to respectfully burn it.
It is past time we started remembering that these thread-bare rags should be treated with respect as the symbols that they are supposed to be.

sorry for the rant. this just got under my skin.

Include information to have them contact the local Boy Scout Troop and ask if they will offer to do a flag burning ceremony to retire damaged flags.

Oh and by the way you can leave a flag up at night if it is lighted. That's why I have spot lights on mine. I also replace mine each year or sooner if needed.

The American Legion holds flag burning ceremonies as well

Section j, about wearing the flag, is the part that interests me the most.. Does this mean that superheroes with a patriotic american theme, such as Captain America, are desecrating the flag by wearing it's elements as part of their costume?

No.

That rule only partains to taking an already existing flag and using it as a costume or clothing

If the elements of the flag are used in teh construction of a new piece of clothing (just regular red while and blue fabrics which were not part of a flag to begin with) to create a flag on clothing, then it's fine.
