No, no I'm afraid we're not.

Friends don't beat friends down like that. Friends don't make insults like that. Friends don't disrespect each other like that. I don't dread seeing my friends' names beside a post.

I've very few friends here.
If I didn't like you I would ignore you. If I didn't respect you and your opinion I wouldn't argue with you.

<extends paw> Lets go get a beer and argue over our favorite guitar players. My favorites are Doc Watson, Chris Smither and Leo Kottke.

(PERSONAL NOTE: Apologies for the late reply to this....had a surprise out of town trip and just got back.)
Sharuuk wrote:But look at the discussion we have going on here right now. Any o' y'alls ever think that RH just might be a-stirrin' the puddin' to see what reactions he gets?
Aurrrin wrote:That's sick.
Oh hardly.......I think it's an interesting and ingenious method of learning what kind of people are on his forums.....see what kind of personal, philosophical, political and religeous outlooks and beliefs they have.......that's not sick, that's pretty smart.
Sharuuk wrote:I'm not a ditto-head nor a mind-numbed robot, but I DO have very vivid memories of how I've been treated and how conservatives in general have been portrayed for decades in the press and entertainment media with virtual impunity. Whether it's "immature" or not.....I DO enjoy "dishing out" just a bit of what I and most other conservatives have been forced to take for so long with no other recourse than to suffer in silence. And I'll also have to admit my guilt at absolutely reveling in just how long and loudly the liberals screech whenever they get ever so slightly pricked by the same needles they've been impaling conservatives on for the past 40+ years.
Aurrin wrote:What about me? Have I been prodding you with needles for the past 40 years? Then what makes you think that you can take it out on me?
Excuse me???? Take what out on you?? That comment wasn't even directed anywhere near you!! Maybe I should have been a bit more precise......I was referring to how loudly the libs are screaming over Karl Rove's comments a few days ago about how "conservatives prepared for war while liberals prepared lawsuits and therapy for our enemies." That's a bit paraphrased but it's nearly verbatim, and the libs are screaming that he slandered DEMOCRATS when in reality he NEVER even said the word "Democrat" only "LIBERALS". And now they're screeching for his head, that he should be fired etc......but how quiet the screams are over Dick (Turban) Durbin's comments comparing our troops to the Nazis and Stalinists, and Pol Pots of some of the most murderous regimes known to modern man.
Aurrin wrote:You're even worse than they are, because you admit to yourself what you're doing and you do it anyway to people that aren't even in leauge with the ones you claim did it to you.
Where have I attacked you, called you names, said that you were "bat-shit crazy" or "a fucking idiot" or any of the other flames I've read on these threads, some of which have been directed at Ralph himself. All I've done, to my knowledge, is correct you on some of your more strident comments, the most recent one being the situation in the Senate with the fillibusters......I went back and re-read my post and nowhere do I attack you as you seem to believe. And even to that you claimed that I was trying to "bait" you..........hunh??

And you just made my next point below......you seem to take EVERY comment that differs with your position as a DIRECT PERSONAL ATTACK on you.
Sharuuk wrote:Yes, RH has all the tact and diplomacy of a rabid wolverine and the subtley of a thermonuke in an outhouse......but I think the ones who are the most upset with his postings are taking them PERSONALLY......some of you are seeing all of his statements as personal attack on yourselves.....and some of them are.....but not all.
Aurrin wrote:No. Prettymuch every one that followed what I said was a direct attack on me. He's even said as much: he considers me to be an extreme liberal no matter what I say or do.
Maybe in his eyes you are.....and maybe in the eyes of some of the others here as well.....but in some of your responses, you tend to take an answer to the most extreme direction you can......for instance if I say that I agree that we should start drilling in ANWR and off the coast of Florida to try and alleviate some of our dependence on forign oil, you would take that as validation to your charge that "conservatives in general don't give a crap about the environment".....I could make the exact same charge about "liberals in general don't give a crap about national security or winning the war in Iraq....otherwise they wouldn't be doing everything possible to undermine the effort."
Sharuuk wrote:But once again...look at the discussion we have going on here......and no one's been banned, booted or "officially" bitched out.
Aurrin wrote:....I have.

No....you haven't......by "officially bitched out" I mean having the SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR....not Ralph, come online and warn you about extreme posting and to my knowledge that has never happened. And you obviously haven't been kicked off the forums......although, I have to admit that some of the scathing replys you've directed at Ralph make me wonder whether or not you're trying to goad him into booting you off so that you can scream "censorship"....and that was done by the same individual that got booted that I mentioned earlier.
Sharuuk wrote:I'd say that shows considerable restraint and tolerance on RH's part given that this is HIS FORUM AND LJ........wouldn't you?
Aurrin wrote:No. He just enjoys having someone to yell at.
And I begin to wonder if you don't actually enjoy being yelled at.....

Bottom line.....Gilly is Ralph's interpretation of todays extreme left wing liberal Democrat....if you're so upset at the portrayal, could it possibly be that his characature is more accurate than you care to admit?

And the following is IN NO WAY meant as a suggestion that you leave the forum....SO DON'T TAKE IT THAT WAY.....but I have to paraphrase Nip here and ask.....if you're so unhappy and upset at some of the postings and what Ralph says......why do you stay?

BTW.....I DO NOT DISLIKE YOU........and contrary to your post to Narnian, I think you may have more friends here than you know......and Narnian also makes a valid point that applies to me as well.....if I didn't like you, we wouldn't even be having this debate.

<extends paw as well> Mind if I join you for that beer? I'm not to up on guitarists but I do play a mean keyboard.

May I have one of those beers? ...And, sorry, but those guys don't hold a candle to Jeff Beck and Joe Satriani and Steve Morse, or Adrian Legg for that matter. ;-p

Happy 4th of July, guys.

Happy 4th Moon Kitty......I agree with you about Joe Satriani......let me add...Ottmar Leibert.....but (and boy am I dating myself here!!) Jimi Hendricks will still be the most innovative guitarist of the 20th century.

Isn't Ottmar Leibert the guy who did the really creative combinations of salsa & blues? Ok, add him onto the list; but I disagree with you about Hendricks. I mean, yes, he was good, and he was innovative in how he <i>used</i> the guitar (ye gods, he practically had sex with the thing on stage), and he did some neat things with distortion...but he was not really that innovative when it came to the sound he got out of it, IMO. I mean, I don't think he pushed the parameters of playing and the sound you aim for like Beck did, or like Eric Johnson did.

But anyway...Cheers, m'dear -- I drink a toast in your honor. :D

Ottmar Leibert created a style now called (and a CD by the same name) "Nuveau Flaminco". I first got interested in his style when I heard a song called "Snake Charmer" from the CD "The Hours Between Night and Day"....

And you're right about Beck pushing the envelope......I stand corrected.

Cheers to you M'Lady....have a safe holiday.

If it weren't for Les Paul, they would probably all be playing acousitics.

I prefer acoustic. I was one of the people shocked when Dylan went electric (I have since gotten over it). Never cared for Hendrix.

My tastes are more toward George Benson, John Fahey, Muddy Waters. Mississippi John Hurt, Andr
