I think it may have a few things to do with her sense of responsibility. She did incur a debt, (even if it was in a dirty underhanded way) and she wants to pay it off.

There may be some shame in there too, not so much that she got roped into a porn shoot. (Which just ended up being a 35mm colonoscopy for the cameraman anyway) But the fact that she was "duped" on the first place. I don't see this as being too likely because most of the people in Malarkey would be supportive of her anyways, (Well most of the people that mattered anyways,...)

There may also be embarrassment in that she actually did lie to her friends about her situation.

Finally there may be a little resentment towards Tuck for actually getting her into this mess in the first place. Make him sweat (pant?) a bit so that he doesn't try anything like this again.

Thelma has pride. She wants to be able to get herself out of the mess instead of running home and letting someone else bail her out. And she has new friends like Chainsaw Jane who helped her get the wrestling job. She would be abandoning them if she left with the debt unpaid. She wants to stay until everything is settled.

That's weird. The place Thelma is staying at is called "Phlebagh Hotel". Phlebo-, phleb- is a medical prefix meaning "vein".

Pronounced: "FLEA-BAG" with a long 'e'!

Phleb is pronounced with a short 'e'. Sorta like "Phy-deux" is cajun spelling for "Fido"....

Having been a medic for too long I caught that part........after I stopped laughing and wiped the tears so I could read clearly.

I don't think ya wanna make bloody jokes about where Thelma and CJ are stayin......unless o' course YOU wanna be reduced to a bag o' veins!

Little Thelma is growing up. I'd say there's a good measure of pride going on, but she's also swallowing the bitter pill and has decided to hold herself accountable for her actions, which include bashing all that equipment. In all, I think that this has taught her to READ THE WHOLE DARNED CONTRACT BEFORE SIGNING, and to at least ask more questions about what the contest actually is.

I was at the supermarket the other day and I saw a brand of yogurt holding a contest, and there in the dairy section was a representative of the company. "Would you like to enter the contest? Just buy a liter of our brand and there might be a surprise inside."

I held up a "specially marked" 1 liter container, and thought that something was odd. "Excuse me lady, but here I don't see the contest rules, specifications, deadline, phone number for more info, NOR DO I SEE THE PERMIT NUMBER (not sure what the US equivalent is, but in Mexico, all "contests" and game shows require a special permit from the Secretar

Simple answer. She's been through hell, she's made it out on her own (even if she had friends to give her some guidence SHE did the work) and now she has a backbone. There is no way that she is going to go back home to be what she was before.

With all the discussion that's taken place so far, I'm surprised no one's mentioned one possibility...

Maybe Thelma likes indie wrestling and is having too much fun to want to walk away from it. Even if her friends do manage to mete out some poetic justce to get her debt erased.

Well that's what I would do with those "suspension" freaks. They allready have those nice big hooks in their bodies. Might as well put them to good use.
