First thought: "He is so dead."
I think Thelma's about to make use of Tuck's line -
No jury in the south would convict me...

Looking at how tall that tripod is, I think that that guy will still be able to take pictures,... All he'll have to do is open his mouth!

(Buy I don't know how well the flash will work coming out of his nose)

Hmm. That would change it from a Hassenblad to a brownie.

Note that the photographer's line, "You won't be wearing it [the bikini] for long, anyway," could be interpreted more than one way. It could also mean that she'll soon be able to change into something she's more comfortable with.

Somehow, I don't think that's what he meant, if only because earlier strips have already clued us in that it was a porno shoot. But think about it for a minute - we assume the photographer is in on the con game (I doubt he'd be wearing that stupid grin in the third panel if he weren't). It's possible the photographer phrased the statement that way as a gambit to see what reaction he would get. The obvious assumption many a model would make is that she would be taking it off for nude photos, and if a model reacts favorably to that idea, even if ambivalently at first, he knows they've got a winner (for them, not necessarily for her). But if he gets a reaction of shock and anger, like the one Thelma is giving him, he can fall back to the other interpretation: "Wait, that's not what I meant..." How they handle the models who coolly ask what they meant by that without giving any signals whether they'd be willing to undress is an exercise left to the con artist, as is the question of what happens next to the ones who aren't (though I doubt if it's anything the models would be happy with). And they'd better be ready to handle the ones who have a knee-jerk negative reaction to doing a porn shoot - from the look of things, Thelma may have fallen into this category.

Riiight.

Speaking of Hasselblads, I know where there are six of them that anyone can have, absolutely free. All you have to do is go and get them.

Methinks they'd need just a -bit- of servicing after all this time in vacuum, though.

Are these the ones that some idiot prep tech forgot to remove the lens covers on prior to launch? Cause that happened once. Also, with no moisture out there and in a vacuum, unless they've taken a constant bombardment of high temprature/high energy solar radiation or impact micro-meteoroids, they should be in excellent condition.

mmm, just thinking, but what if they may have it set up with massive charges for "chickening out" on a photo shoot after she had allready agreed to do it?

Other than the fact that it would never hold up in court, given that Thelma had no idea this was a porno or even a nude shoot to begin with...there could even be charges brought againt the agency of misleading information. Look at the previous strip. Thelma was given a slip of paper with an address on it and probably nothing else. She has no idea this is a porno shoot. I also believe that there has now been laws put into place prohibiting the use of either very lightly printed (like pale grey) or "micro-print" that you can't see without a fairly high powered magnifier. Unreadable, or more specifically "not readily readable" fine print, I think has been deemed illegal, especially on contracts that you're not allowed to leave the office with and read very carefully at home. I may be mistaken here, but I recall something along these very lines here in Orlando caused a HUGE flap.

That plus we'd probably see Thelma up on multiple homicide charges.

true, however there's no telling what she signed when she got there.

Agreed, but like I said, if there was ultra fine print there or she was rushed into signing without being given sufficient time to read it thoroughly, there could be more repercussions (if not CONcussions) for the agency than Thelma.

I never sign ANY contract that I can't take home and read at my leisure or with my attorny.

When I read this strip, I instantly imagined Tucks expression changing like it did when Gus insulted Thelma, specifically panels 6 :o & 7  .
Not bad. All six tires in ten seconds.

true, however I guess it just depends on how smart these people are, she was certaintly not expecting this and therfore the contract may have been worded in a sufficiently vague or open-ended way so that what was printed was not what she read.

or she may have simply not read it carefully enough, *shrug*

honestly though, beats me. i'm just randomly speculating, and regardless, I look forward to seeing the coming pain dealt to this guy.

Concidering "I coulda been worse-- they coulda made me pay that feller's medical bill", when she does beat him up, the "feller" will have to have a full body cast and a feeding tube. I know how we all hate that idea!
