March 6th

Post by TGIF »

I wonder if Thelma's only concern is Hortense's possibly pulling a stunt? I am afraid that Thelma may have been put into a position (or into costumes) that she is too embarrassed by to be seen in.

I wonder, if Thelma were indeed put into that type of situation, whether she would be brave enough to stand up for her principles or if her shyness and (possible) lack of strong self image would end up having her cave in and compromise rather than standing up for what she (and most of us, I suspect) feels is right and proper.

BTW - today's wig is probably the best look on Hortense that I've seen for her to date.

Agreed. And I liked her interaction with Nip. *snickers* You know what they say about guys and girls who annoy each other like that in fiction...

Hmmm... an interesting hypothesis LoneWolf, I guess Nip always did like being around explosives... maybe that applies to personalities as well as chemical compounds.

Frankly, I don't trust Hortense as far as I could throw Thunder. I'm concerned that she just might do something to sabotage Thelma to "save" her from being successful at this "institutionalized sexism" as she calls it. :x

If Hortense does anything...ANYthing other than be completely supportive of Thelma thru this, I hope to see Tuck sporting a lizard skin hatband and suspenders.

On the flip side, I don't think Tuck's being there is such a good idea. It's gonna make Thelma VERY self conscious especially if she has to wear a fairly revealing outfit.

This whole thing has the potential of blowing up badly and driving Thelma into a shell she'll never come out of and she'll never forgive Tuck....or giving her the self confidence and self image that'll let her give Pop's Garage Gals a run for their money. :o

I'm hopin' for the latter.

We are NOT surrounded.....this is a "target rich" environment!

Hmm. But the boys do know where Thelma is, so she can't be that shy about it. I suspect the easy explanation is the correct one this time - Thelma's worried about Hortense causing a scene. Maybe she'll be distracted by seeing some lizard-femmes doing proper lizard-fashion or something. Wouldn't it be a kick if she got tapped as a reptilian model? Maybe her earlier experience was just being different and the judges not knowing her potential... her mother apparently thought she had a chance.

Hortense looks honestly worried.

She may be a whack job, but she's a sweetheart whackjob.

...Nip and Hortense, sitting in a tree? That would be.. funny, in a horrible, horrible, bad wonderful way.

I suppose... I still say that Zelda is the most probable choice (or the characters we have seen)... too innocent to be any fun to prank (Hortense OTHO would counterattack... but of course NOT in kind), and plenty of danger to keep him interested...

Yeah, there is that factor. The Danger.
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.

Now there is a really cool idea.

Not necessarily Hortense getting tapped as a model (probably way too late in the process, plus she didn't enter) - but remember, part of Hortense's problem is the fact that, raised in isolation from other reptiles, she doesn't have a clue as to how a young reptilian woman is supposed to look/dress to be attractive to young reptilian men.

Two side questions unrelated to the above: which character is Zelda and has Ralph addressed the issue of interspecies relationships being able to produce offspring?

Thanks,

TGIF

Zelda is the shy porcupine from the sleep-over plot arc... which is also where we first really got to know Hortense. Zelda is either very short, or in the about 11 to 13 age range. In the second case, Nip might have to wait a few more years than what he otherwise would (real, lasting relationships take a while to build in any case... although from what I hear, a year or two is by no means too short in most cases.).

Actually, I seem to recall that RH mentioned that Zelda was no more than a year or two younger than Thelma - it is her extreme shyness coupled with her lack of height that makes her seem so young.
When trouble arises and things look bad, there's always one individual who perceives a solution and is willing to take command. Very often, that individual is insane.

I'm not sure - in this wig, she makes me think of a young Phyllis Diller...
