I just noticed that my rank has jumped to Leutenant, for my information, how did it get that way?

I always have assumed that for non-"official" people it was purely number of posts.

Generally, the first twnety posts you are a cadet, 21-100 (I think) is Lieutenant, 101-1000 is Lt. Commander, 1001+ is Commander. It is rather inadequately discussed
here.
