Ah, but at least they remember you; I look so forgettable, people who saw me five minutes before can't recognize me from a photograph. <raises paw> True story, believe it or not. Mother was looking all over for me, and having about as much luck as when she walked straight past me in the house, calling my name.

Dude, in an outing with the Youth Group, I decided to go home without telling anyone while everyone was arguing where to go, and it took them TWO HOURS to figure out I was gone, despite the fact that they were planning a birthday celebration for me. There was a time where a CLOSE friend SAW ME GET IN HIS CAR, HE LOOKED AT ME IN THE EYE, and when we got to our destination, he turned and saw me and asked, "Hey, when did YOU get here?"

I don't need a test to tell me what I am: a paradox.

I am a liberal conservative deist religious humanist imperialist libertarian rational-anarchist capitalist.

If you find that confusing, imagine how I feel. :o :-?

But if you WANT to slap a label on my personal political beliefs, regardless of the fact that they are as individualistic as I am, then call me a Conservative Libertarian with exceptions made on certain topics. For instance, it may be for "greater" personal freedom to allow abortions, but I oppose them from a moral and scientific stance (as do I that "morning after pill" BS). On the other hand, I support the decriminalization if not legalization, of marijuana (sp?) and other currently-illegal drugs.

And many others besides. But the point is that you can't always peg someone into a nice little box of stereotypes. But I'm sure someone will, and proclaim me a "fence-sitter" or some other derogatory term implying that I lack conviction simply because I don't share YOUR conviction.

Meh, what I say won't matter... Because half of you have made up your minds already, and the other half won't get involved for various reasons. I only speak now to let you all know why my mind seems so freakin' weird from a distance. O_o

Anyway, thanks for listening. Good night and God Bless.

I was glad to listen, Rokas, but... well... we're all paradoxes.

Ever read Steppenwolf, by Hesse? We attach labels to parts of ourselves all the time, which is fine. But then we start pretending the labels have some meaning unto themselves... which they don't.

<shrug> Let's face it: I wouldn't say the whole world's a sideshow, but Rokas...

One of us.
One of us.
One of us. :D

Now if you'll pardon me, <hands hat and cane to J.A.M.>, we two invisible furries will entertain you with a rousing performance of "Mr. Cellophane". A silent duet, of course. So let's duet tu-et. 8-)

Yours truly,

The wolfish, tap-dancing,

Wanderer

I want to throw out both the Harrison Act and the 21st Amendment; I want to decriminalize marijuana and LSD and re- criminalize alcohol. What does that make me?

And don't call it a crazy idea. Alcohol IS a drug, and every year it kills, on average, more people than meth, cocaine and heroin combined. And if it's possible to die of an overdose of alcohol the same way that you can OD on meth, cocaine or heroin, I don't see any meaningful difference.

Grass, despite its reputation as a 'gateway' drug, has never actually killed anyone - there are no medical records of anyone ODing on marijuana; it may, in fact, be physiologically impossible. There are records of people doing stupid $#!+ while stoned on marijuana or THC and getting themselves killed, but compared to the legions of drunks who die of cirrhosis or car accidents every year, the number of grass-related deaths is infinitesimal.

By continuing to criminalize and stigmatize marijuana, the government is punishing people who are not technically doing anything wrong - most of them are honest citizens who buy the stuff with their own money, and in the end, as long as they don't harm another human being, there's nothing wrong with it. Whereas alcohol makes you violent and moody and MORE likely to harm a human being, grass makes you calmer and LESS likely to punch the guy sitting next to you.

And I'm sorry for hijacking the conversation, but I just had to get all of this off my chest. i've been thinking about it by myself for too long.
