well, it is a good thing that someone is keeping track of some of the more elusive posters on this forum.

the sadest and most mysterious (not to mention disturbing and annoying) part of anything you can find on the internet; is when the writer or creater thereof has left it and not told the audience why...

i look at the early pages of the npc forum and there were a few posters that are now unheard of. where did they go? now i feel all lonely and scared...is solidus sneaking up behind me again? at least i know he wont leave(no matter what we try)
I still say the doctor did it....

Hah! Foolish mortals! Solidus is everywhere!

...speaking of which, you might want to stand very still. You just stepped on a mine with a pressure switch.

How long can you play statue? *evil smile* (i.e. + :D )
I'm lost. I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, please ask me to wait. Thanks.

This may be a little off topic, but does anyone happen to know what music is playing during the teaser trailer of the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe? I don't know what music it is, but it sounds awesome!

I don't recognize it. Probably is the actual music they're using for the flick.

Heh heh, I am truly flattered. Let's see got the street named after me (They did it for the 911 system, all the people on the back roads with really long drive ways got to choose the name, we used our family name, a few years later the post office started to use the same names) Got my own playing card, now all I need is a statue dedicated to me, and my own country
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.

Boy, do I need this thread.
Does anyone know how to complain to Netscape Radio?
I like patriotic music, so I occasionally listen to the patriotic tunes station.
Okay, granted, country music tends to be more patriotic than other genres.
Does being country automatically make any song patriotic?
If praising one aspect of american life qualifies as patriotic, wouldn't 'New York, New York' or 'Chicago' qualify as well?
If I wanted to listen to the best of country, I'd listen to the best of country.
Is Simon and Garfunkles 'Look for America' or 'An American Band' really patriotic?
And for Gods sake, how does the elevator muzak version of 'Living on a Prayer' qualify as patriotic?
If you're going to play patriotic songs, how about something we're not going to hear elsewhere?
A few suggestions:
The Battle Hymn of the Republic.
(Listen to the words or read them. They are always moving, but never so powerful as when this nation is in peril.)
Columbia the Gem of the Ocean. Less well known, but also deeply moving.
The Ballad of the Green Beret.
The Ballad of Davy Crocket.
The Battle of New Orleans. (remember all those Taliban stalwarts who vowed to stand to the very end?)
Speaking of songs for our military, anything by John Phillips Sousa.
We'll Meet Again.
Over There.
Lili Marlene,
Praise the Lord (and pass the ammunition)
Seriously, the list of good patriotic songs goes on and on.
Just, please, no more of those one hit pop wonders trying to put their own spin on a classic.
Kate Smith pulled it off with style.
Ray Charles did it beautifully.
Whitney Houston was wonderful.
An elevator muzak version of the Star Spangled Banner I could live without.
You can fool some of the people all of the time
And all of the people some of the time
But you can't fool all of the people all of the time.

I happened to hear this one today in a count down of the top 100 songs of 1966. And it was #1.

And, just to prove my point, here's a link to sights with the text* of many patriotic songs that aren't necessarily country.

Battle Hymn of the Republic
http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/b/h/bhymnotr.htm
Columbia the Gem of the Ocean
http://www.lilesnet.com/patriotic/music/Columbia.htm

*What's that? Why, yes. Text. Once upon a time songs actually often included words that held meaning and could stand alone as interesting and moving documents.
sorry. Just got stuck in traffic next to some guy grooving on a rap song that, apparently, was about forced male-male oral sex. The beat was nice, but either this guy is more twisted than I am, or he was paying no attention at all to what the singer (?) was saying.
