all keyed up
It is almost time for Denise to flounce into the room, pick up the key before Charlie's eyes. Do a "Silly me, I forgot this" and leave the room waving the key in front of his nose.
Most embarrassing I would say.

Of course! He is SUPPOSED to escape - dressed in a tutu.
Sorry, it took me a moment to catch up. I was stuck on the idea that one of the other conspirators might "rescue" him.
I think it'd be especially fun if the house was completely different whenever Charlie finally dragged someone back to prove he'd been kidnapped.
Poor Charlie. Poor, poor Charlie. His mind just sort of snapped one day...

Dis is Tutu much
No, no, you miss the point. Charlie gets hit right between the eyes with the realization that he could have escaped easily. A major D'Oh! But, he will also pay attention the next time Denise come skipping in, and he will notice that she sets the key down where he can get at it.

Somehow I think there has to be more to it than just letting him escape. After all, so far nothing has happened that he just coundn't deny. They have to get him out in front of witnesses, and then eliminate all the evidence of his "abduction". Make him look like he has lost his marbles. Makes me wonder how they are going to do it.

hmmm
no i agree with monty. she seems Impatient, waiting, she would have left the key in an obvious location so as charlie would excape next chance he gets and having excaped in such a hurry he would be still waring the dress.

I'm guessing that the next step in the plan requires Charlie's escape, and that the other conspirators are all waiting for him to do so. What that next step might be - I dunno... I can imagine a few things that might be embarrassing to Charlie. Like his only escape route passing through a popular picnic / park area or something... Or a large shopping mall... Or through the parking lot of a country-western themed bar... whatever.

It still would work better if Charlie gets his chain yanked a time or two.
If he thinks that Denise is an air head, then he it hits him harder when he underestimates things. Let her pick up the key once and give him that wonderful 'Oh ****' feeling that he could have gotten away. Then he will be watchful and be expecting her to 'forget' the key again.
Now, if he gets the key and finds out that it doesn't fit his 'charm bracelet', that might have some interesting effects.
Unca Monty? Two words. Biker Bar. One, he would not associate 'country' with his dress duress and suspect that there's a setup. And two, just think how those bikers would enjoy seeing a little culture brightening their day.
Still, I'm hoping for a tea party. Tea parties are fun.

OK, heres what I say. Deniese is goin to leave Charlie and his tutu while our friend Nip gathers a big ol' crowd of people in front of the house. Now Charlie is left with two desisions: stay inside, lonely, hungery and freightened (who wouldnt be) or, escape in front of thousands of eager eyes.
But there is a billion different ways that could go wrong. So heres plan B
PLAN B
All the time Deniese is holding Charlie up Nip plans a party at Denieses place. And since Charlie loves partys, why not let him join, he could even be Deniese's date.
WOW! there goes the most I have ever typed in a forum.

Through a country-western themed gay bar...
(I once heard of something similar happening to someone obnoxious. He was grabbed, stripped naked, tied & gagged, then thrown into a gay bar with a tube of KY attached. The gay bar patrons thought it was a frat initiation and decided to have some fun with the "pledge" (not what you think; they just did some "Oh thay, freth meat..." schtick). Victim snapped the ropes with an adrenalin surge and proceeded to trash the gay bar before the cops came and took him away. Told to me as true by someone who claimed to be one of the two that did it.)

If you don't mind - It doesn't matter
It sounds like a fairy tale to me.
Hmm, a Gay Biker Bar? That has possibilities. Still, the last panel leads us to believe that charlie has a little bit of a walk to reach any civilization. Maybe he might stay with Denise a bit longer? Y'know. It won't be too long before tea time.
