The strip is great. But the people I go to movies with would have beaten severally the 'commentators.' They hate it when people wilnot be quiet during movies. And no, they would never believe him. Well, until he showed his ship maybe.

Actually, it really depends where you are because if the local culture is a commenting culture, some of the best fun is the commentary happening off screen. I remember a great moment in "Carlito's Way" when Carlito is talking to his girlfriend right in front of the Waverly theater. Where was I seeing it? In the Waverly theater. We all roared.Madmoonie wrote:The strip is great. But the people would beaten severally the 'commentators.' They hate it when people wilnot be quiet during movies. Back to the matter at hand, I wouldn't say a word about being the guy who flew that ship. In a station like that, the Feds would have to be crazy to leave it uninfiltrated. The guy offering a steak dinner could very well be genuine in his sentiment but his side job of collecting information for the Feds would mean he'd probably still pass along the routing info.

They aren't in a regular theater bothering paying customers. They're on the cruise ship watching a special screening with the cast and crew.Madmoonie wrote:The strip is great. With the line about the fed saying his dad "wasn't a right parent" because he was dead broke, that's the first real jab at the fed's I've seen that isn't directly taken from Firefly. Not-so subtle political commentary there.

Built you a temple and locked you away,

Re: Midway
If they can put 2+2 together they would recognize the ship sitting outside the station and shortly thereafter, would figure out who the pilot was. (or think they did) Who knows, they might help refit the Rebel Cry just because it poked the imperial government in the eye.The JAM wrote:That explains why he didn't just dump the kid.
But I bet that now no one will believe it was THEM....

My thoughts exactly.....don't draw any extra attention.Kerry Skydancer wrote:If they figure it out, they prolly will. If Nip -claims- it, they'll figure he's lying and faked up the evidence. Best to remain silent at this point.
However, if the feds get the info their lookin' for, there's a good chance Nip's face and maybe the kid's as well could be on the screens at some time.
As to what the crowd is watching, it might be the initial escape not the run from the Dire Wolf.
If they are recognized, I think the majoity will help them.

Okay, that depends. We have three potential incidents.Tuyu wrote:Now here's a question...
Just what are they watching?
Is the media free (enough) to show our heroes escaping? I kind of had the impression that they weren't.
If they are then maybe they're free enough to show us Goosey-Loosey after the escape, but before her makeup artist gets there?
One, the accidental Ion storm escape. I rate the chances of this as very low. It happened in deep space, and other than the Cry's 'crew' everyone else will have a high interest in not spreading that story. At least without the Rebel's Cry as a trophy to show what that SOB eventually got.
Two, the Chairfoul on the Poop Deck incident and/or Great Escape.
Three, Red's 'Prisoner Under Duress' signal during the loyality oath ceremony. I rate this as the highest chance, it is more likely to slip through the censors. Though if the initial escape leaked first it would be overshadowed by that.
Alright, being known for doing any of those might get Red enough space cred for a collection to partially patch up the RC, espically if it's cred enough to get them to believe the Ion Storm story, suititably editted of course.

I suspect that this isn't the regular media. This is probably the backwater version of "FOX News" here, or video bloggers on the net. Most likely the broadcast is hijacked and stolen from military feeds, or is part of the media presentation that was cut from the "official" channels after the Rebel Cry made her getaway.Tuyu wrote:Is the media free (enough) to show our heroes escaping? In any case, I'm betting they don't have the same censors or "content regulations" as the real media. As such, they can show anything they want to, and the Feds can't really stop them (mostly 'cause they don't know about it).
I'm lost. I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, please ask me to wait. Thanks.

At least that was a bit of comedy relief. Anyone applaud when the cops dragged him out? I know me and my crew would have.Dragon Furry wrote:I remember doing the showing of the last LOTR one jerk had to have a smoke. When a staff member asked him to put it out he took a swing at him.
