Why fantasy heroes never find a stash of cocaine or a cache of submachine guns is beyond me...

Let's look around for some more ale-finding moments. This is one, although my crew get disappointed when the barrel turns out not to be what it seems....

Then there was the Dogwhat Brewery, eh? Not exactly what they were expecting.

Caches of machine guns is very much a staple of the action genre and most people want to stay as far away from their cliches as possible.

Fantasy heroes finding and using drugs though is a rather unexplored area (expect of course for shamanistic "herbal magic" stories). Hmm, powerful wizard on a bad LSD trip - that probably has some interesting possibilities.

Ah, but finding the wine cellar, that's quite the fantasy cliche! Sometimes, tho', ya gots ta dance with the girl what brung ya!

To be quite honest, though, I have had the vaguest ideas about a gun- and drug-running wizard. I plan to call the story "Vice-Lord of the Rings."

And, yes, I am ashamed of that pun.

"I don't know why, but watching 12-year old Japanese girls flinging their school uniforms at each other was wildly entertaining." - Azrael, Japanese Exchange Teacher.
