Well, this here's the new forum. It's supposed to be better than the old ones, but in ways that are too arcane for a non-sysadmin like myself to understand.

I don't know how all the threads got mixed up, but they all appear to be here. I'm going to inquire about reducing the size of the text, as well as changing the colors, and about a title image. Until then, enjoy!

Well I tried sitting here, staring at the screen and just enjoying the forum but I think its more fun to actually interact with it.

Anyway, I see an improvement over the old one.

This new fourm runs using PHP and a MySQL database. The old one used CGI and a mess of text files. While the later is good for small fourms and can be installed with little know-how, as soon as it gets as big a the KeenSpot/Space have, it runs like a pig as you might have noticed. Also this version is freeware I think. UBB wanted to charge something really stupid for their crap.

Ah. I had noticed that the new forums were (a lot) faster. And I can see the KeenSpot management going open-source simply for philosophical reasons, but also for the cost savings.

Thanks for the update, Al!

Well, here's the NEW new forums.

As you can see if you post, there's some interesting stuff. The emoticon stuff to the left, buttons for mucking about with all that unwieldy UBB code, and some interesting options for your profiles, including avatar images, now.

Let's just hope they speed up, eh?
