...Would play the voice of whom in the <B>Fight Cast Or Evade</B> animated series?<P>It's harder than it sounds (to me, anyway) and I actually haven't given it much thought. What I <I>have</I> come up with is:<P>Dozer: Bob Hoskins (the detective from <I>Who Framed Roger Rabbit</I>, only using his native British accent)<P>Stush (the raccoon who runs the Ram & Noodle): Bill Cowher (in a very Pittsburgh in-joke)<P>Any other ideas?<P><small>and yes, I absolutely and shamelessly stole this idea from the <A HREF="http://pdi.keenspace.com" TARGET=_blank><B>PDI</B></A> forum, but it's a super-cool idea, so phthb!!</small>

Okay, this is what I've decided so far. I've taken the ideas presented so far, and my thoughts on what's been suggested to come up with the following:<P>Stillwell: Robin Williams (although he may be a little manic for the part)
Dozer: Bob Hoskins
Fubaar: Jesse Ventura
Stush: George Carlin
Teneque: Werner Klemperer (you know, Colonel Klink!)<P>So we still need Yerzle, Portia, Sashi, Rosa the dragon, and our newest arrivals Tunj and Erl. (Sorry, Gilgamesh, but I just can't see Billy Crystal as Yerzle or George Carlin as Mousashi, but I <I>do</I> see him as the tavern-keeper Stush.)<P>Portia seems the only main character who hasn't gotten any clear votes (except for the Pooka nominating herself, but I don't know what she sounds like <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/wink.gif">), so how about... Jennifer Aniston? I really like her voice (among other things <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/wink.gif">), but the characters she's played don't really mesh well with Portia, I don't think.<P>Yerzle.... This is tough, because I hear everybody in my own voice, and Yerzle most of all, but I don't think that he's the character I match up with the most. I just can't think of anybody.<P>Rosa: Diana Rigg or Judy Dench; some older British woman to give her the disdain and haughtiness required for a dragon. But I have a hard time imagining Dianna Rigg saying "More like being on the receiving end of his own personal dragon-lance, if you catch my drift."<P>But I'd like to put this up when I redo the site design (which is indeed coming), so I use some more comments and suggestions. You'll even get credit if your choice gets used!

I must say that I'm surprised at how different people see the same character as sounding completely different. Not that there's any deeper meaning attached to that statement.
In actuality, I hear every character as sounding a lot like myself. But then, I write what they say, so I guess that's somewhat normal.

Yeah, whenever I read a comic, I tend to attach kinda a null voice to characters... like, my mind hears Yertzle as "FCE voice 0", Portia as "FCE voice 1", etc. My mind can tell them apart, I just don't know what they'd sound like...
...all except Stillwell. Stilly's got an actual voice in my head, and Robin Williams would sound good, assuming he can do a sorta guy-holding-his-nose sorta voice for him without going manic. :-)

Yeah... although I always try to attach celebs' voices (such as Dennis Miller for Matt and the actress who did snow white for Alex, Cap'n) to the characters --- doesn't that get a little monotonous, Matt? Having several characters sounding like you in your head (well, besides the regular voices in our heads
) --- maybe storylines would take on new twists if they were in individual voices... the plotlines might write themselves
(ask me about the Drow Child turned Demoness for an example)

Actually, this does make a lot of sense. It IS kind of dull when everybody has the same voice (or, at least, different tones of the same voice). I'm going to have to think some more, and come out with the Definitive Voice List. A very interesting comic called Scud: The Disposable Assassin led off every issue with a "Voice Talent" listing, as well as a soundtrack listing. It did add a lot to the reading experience.Stalks-The-Wind's-Shadows wrote:Yeah... although I always try to attach celebs' voices (such as Dennis Miller for Matt and the actress who did snow white for Alex, Cap'n) to the characters --- doesn't that get a little monotonous, Matt? Maybe when I finally get the Viewer's Guide to the Middle Kingdoms up and running....

I can only imagine Portia then --- a high pitched male voice a la drag queen, seeing you said it's different tones of your voice
*is promptly BRR-ZOTTED out of existance* --- that's a good idea... but I don't think your 3 panels a strip would fit a "voice talent" list because it would repeat too much if the same characters are in the strip for a few postings; you need defined voices
We're anxiously waitin'for that guide --- got anything for it at the moment? Put up what you've got to avoid the appearance of laziness. First step in the mile journey, or something

You're going to get such a pinch for that "drag queen" comment, you know....Stalks-The-Wind's-Shadows wrote:I can only imagine Portia then --- a high pitched male voice a la drag queen, seeing you said it's different tones of your voice*is promptly BRR-ZOTTED out of existance* --- that's a good idea... but I don't think your 3 panels a strip would fit a "voice talent" list because it would repeat too much if the same characters are in the strip for a few postings; you need defined voices
But you're also right, a "voice talent" list wouldn't work for each strip, I was thinking more of a set page on the site that established who did the voice for whom.
I'm working on it, I'm working on it! I've got a map done, I just have to color it. I've also got a very sketchy history, and most of a pantheon made. I just have to find the time to bang the rest of it out. We're anxiously waitin'for that guide --- got anything for it at the moment? Put up what you've got to avoid the appearance of laziness.
