Cool!
Of course, now I'll have to dig it all up, and (hopefully) get some more done. This'll be an incentive to finish at least one of the myriad half-done stories I've got sitting around.
Just let me know when you're ready....

I've got a question for yunz all:
Any writers out there?
Now, I realize that anybody who draws a comic is, by definition, a writer, but what I mean is do you write non-comic-related stuff? Short fiction? Long fiction? Non-fiction? Drama? Poetry? If so, have you been published? For money?
Having asked these questions, I suppose I should offer my own answers. I (try to) write short fiction, mostly SF but recently I've tried broadening my horizons. The only poetry I ever wrote was for creative-writing classes, and I don't care much for what I've produced (Although "Ahab's Lament" could probably turn into something decent if I tried. It, and my e e cummings parody/satire were the only ones I even remotely liked.).
I've only had one story published, and that was back in high school, in the school's brand-new literary journal. It was a story about near-future combat pilots and drug use, and the journal's advisor said he liked it because the characters were flat and emotionless, and they fit the subject matter well. Hmmm. Damning with faint praise if I've ever heard it. Anyway, it was a blatant ripoff of the William Gibson story "Dogfight," and it seriously sucks.
Anybody else want to offer their thoughts/comments? And if you have any desire to read my stuff, just ask.
Aside to Damonk: I know you're a poet, but how about anything else?)
------------------

the only other thing i've had published aside from my poetry, really (and this is not counting college newspaper stuff like articles, features, graphics, comic strips, and editorial cartoons, etc.), are a few illustrations that i did years back for a history textbook (not very impressive)...
yeah. that's all i can think about really-- although i have designed logos for an elementary school (grade 6 -- i got a walkman for it!) for a few local sports clubs, and for charity organizations, but that's really about it...
did i mention poetry?

Seriously, Scott? A novel? Cool!
Care to give away any details? Or even broad generalities? How long have you been working on it?
I haven't ever given any serious thought to writing a novel; my short fiction career has been unsuccessful enough, although I do have some ideas that could probably be expanded from the short forms I'm working on now into greater length. I don't know that I've got the ambition to do it, though.

I'm also working on a novel. Occasionally when I'm not writing myself into a corner.
I've got about three good chapters. I had two more chapters but I trashed them cause they were crap. I haven't touched it since I started the web comic.I'd hit a block I just couldn't think around, let along right around. I've ignored it on purpose and focused on the comic. The comic just seems to flow a whole lot easier(I've even had a few tentative deas for my problem). I'll get back to the book a little later, then I'll pound out more story until I'm done or I hit my next block.
-<a href ="captainmike.keenspace.com>Captain Mike

Er...is this thing on? ::taps mike::
::Mike sues for harassment::
Anyway, I just found my way in here, so, this is both a "Hi!" message, and a chance to shamelessly plug my own badly-written stuff
My site is www.lonewolfcreations.com, if you go under Writing on the home page, you can see some of what I'm doing. Brian--Welcome! Glad to have you aboard, and there's no need to lurk if you've got (or think you've got ) something to say! Of course, I do my share of lurking so I can't say too much.
And I'll be heading over to check out your stuff. Apparently, your shameless plug worked!
Scott--A Wiccan in the Navy, eh? Is that a recognized faith by the US military? I ask this seriously because I've heard that the Church of Satan is.
And yes, I know that the "Satan" of the Church of Satan is not the "Satan" of Christianity. Although the guy who started that religion did dress up in a cheesy devil costume.

My own little book is about a guy who can see his own future. After twenty or so years of carefully learning to control this ability he is faced with a choice. He either leaves his level of skill as it is (at a latent and very passive ability) or he pushes onward and accepts a calling to an active role. Of course the active roll involves irreversable physical changes. And all that is just in the opening little bit.
-Captain Mike
