Strip Of The Day

Postby Aglauros on Thu Mar 15, 2001 7:34 am

Objective: to provide an area for comments, discussion, speculation, and screaming regarding the Strip D'Jour; to actually post something; and to copy Virgil's format.
Izzat Eris? Please? Please? *sniffles* Eh, she's probably not Eris ... but that'd be cool. She does have a nice outfit. *nod nod*
Hmm. I guess that's the end of the insight for the day as I must needs get to physics lab posthaste. Laters.

I blame the hooka. She is Greek (and not Eris--but you're kinda close), though her wardrobe &c. do have a touch of the cold and dark regions about 'em.
mike

Damn midterms. I gave up on my 3.76 a while ago; now, I'm worried about maintaining a 3.0 for my main scholarship. Bahhhhhh.
Anyway. Just noticed, but the New Goddess isn't quite the freshest egg in the nest, is she? Well, either that, or she's got midterms this week too. (A year ago, I never would have thought I'd be alive after a four-hour night of sleep. Now I take tests and can reason coherently after such a night. Scary.)
I have very little else to add of value, as I really need some sleep. Hmmm, sleep or rewatch Knights ... okay, the anime wins. *poofs off*

I'd try to say something clever in Latin, except for the fact that I'm waaaaay rusty. So I guess I'll just settle for "Neither am I."

Was Pandora's box before or after the great flood? Must be after.
I know Prometheus warned one of his sons (can't remember their names for the life of me) about Zeus's plan to flood the world and the son and his family made provisions accordingly. After the great flood taht guy and his wife threw stones behind them, re-creating humanity.
I think.

That sounds familiar. Though I'm kinda mixing it up with norse mythology, in which humans were remade from trees after the flood? I have to admit, creation myths really aren't my forte; they all blend together.
For reference (not that it matters) the events of now are after that; people are all made and kinda stable.
mike

Every society has a version of the creation/flood myth. I'm kinda fuzzy on what happened after promethieus, though. Wasn't aware of a hostile takeover attempt by The Braided One...

No, it's got to be Enyo. I don't blame you for not knowing her Sophrosyne, I had to look her up earlier this year. She's a lesser Greek goddess of war, Ares's sister I think. She's usually depicted as an old woman.
Am I right or what Mike?

Happy Thursaday, everybody. You know what that means ... Faraday is almost here!
Sorry. *ducks*
Regarding Enyo - that's a new name to me, too. I looked her up on Google, and there appears to be a very little information on the lady who might well be The Braided One at http://home.swipnet.se/~w-48250/mythology/e/enyo.html
Enjoy. *evil smile*
p.s. Poor Mike. Not fun. Never lost a CPU before, but went through three weeks of hell with what turned out to be a fried CD-ROM drive. Bah. Good luck getting 'im fixed.
