Well I had no problem reading your posts in the new forum, but every time I tried to register so I could post back, my computer froze--I'm pretty sure the problem isn't on my end. *sigh* the internet can be fickle though. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow and it'll work, who knows. All in all I think I prefer news-groups.

Sorry about that, I got an error message so I thought it didn't post. Arrrrrgh! Next thing this whole topic thread will probably delete.

So which forum should we currently post on? Personally, I like the new one. I click post and it loads up the page to post within seconds. To load up the same page on this messageboard on my puny 56k modem takes several minutes sometimes. No joke, it took me 2 and a bit minutes just to load up the window to type this message, then almost another minute or so to return to the thread. It takes about that long to load any thread here for me. And no, i wasn't doing anything else at the same time.

It may seem a little childish, I suppose, but...
this is the second time I've tried to "Join" an ez-board.
Note, I said "tried". as in, whatever answer it was that I gave them on their "Special Offers" was insufficient, and they basically said no.
(I'm not a fan of spam...)
or, maybe it's just that my browser doesn't like cookies (even with milk), making me unwilling to employ them.
I get the feeling that I'm in the vast minority...

Hey, everybody!
I've just about got the new forum ready to go, and if anyone would like to try it out, you can get to it, here:
New ShadowFall forum
I'd like to get some comments on it, before I make a permanent switch. I'm a little distressed that it occasionally gives me a pop-up ad when I go to the board. If you guys consider that a major irritation, I'll look elsewhere for a board. I still haven't gotten a reply from the Keen folks on whether or not I can run my own CGI-based forum, and I don't want to just do it without permission. I'm very annoyed at the current forum setup, though, and hope I can find something that works better and everyone likes.
I've only got one poster in the new forum, so far, and that is Genjiro. Naturally, he doesn't like the new forum, because there's no one there to pet him and fawn on him. (~-^)
Thanks, in advance, to everyone who tries out the new forum!
(^-^)
Kaichi

Hmm...some things I certainly need to take into account about the new board. Maybe I can find some place to host just an entrance page and my own CGI board. I'll have to look into it, further, I guess.
Grr...everything is laden with problems!!
(~-^)
Kaichi

Yeah, you're right, Dan san. (But giving up smoking probably would be a good idea, too...heh!) I would like to have my own board, but I'm seeing how much time it will require for me to find a good program and set the thing up. I'm short on time, as it is, and still haven't even done the extras I've been promising. I need a couple of clones or android assistants, some extra computers and extra connections to the internet, at the very least.
Sarah mentioned preferring newsgroups. I don't know how much it takes to get a new group accepted in the, say, rec.arts hierarchy, but I know it takes a good deal of time. I do have a mailing list through eGroups, but it's really only for me to send site updates to subscribers. If anyone is interested in that, you can subscribe here:
http://www.egroups.com/subscribe/kyoki_ ... pdates/
Although, I'm two weeks behind in the newsletter, right now. Like I'm not behind in everything, right now!
I've not created one specifically for ShadowFall, though, because most people won't join something like that unless they already know someone who is on it. I don't even have very many subscribers to the newsletter group.
Sigh...I just need more time to work on things!! And more money!! Gah!!
(~-^)
Kaichi

True, all things "Are" laden with difficulty, including breathing, eating, walking....
Maybe I should stop smoking, eh?
(the above was an attempt at levity)
Seriously, though: I got the confirmation e-mail shortly after I posted my last comment here.
I think that setting up "Your Own" might be the best choice for a self-admitted control freak, it would enable you to set it up in a way that YOU want, with features that You like, and any bugs in it would be immediately accessable from where you're at.
For a man of your skill, it may be the most practical approach.
just a thought.
