Okay, here's the thread I promised to start on the extra goodies for ShadowFall. First of all, I'd like to repeat what I said in Monday's (9 July, 2001) Chatterbox:
"I've been thinking of making some wallpaper/desktop picture downloads with ShadowFall images, like those available at Elf Life and at The Japanese Beetle... I'm also working on an image for some new black t-shirts, as well as a cover and spine for those of you who have been printing ShadowFall and are keeping it in a ring binder. Along with this, there's a possibility of a print version of the first three issues of SF, together in one book. Lots of new stuff to consider, and keep me busy!!"
That being said, this thread is for comments and suggestions for extra stuff. I'll also make another post following this one, to preview the new art for the black t-shirts, which I'd also like comments and suggestions on. In the interest of bandwidth, I'd like to ask everyone to please not reply to the posts with the art in them, but to post either a general reply or a reply to this first post. I'm trying to be nice to KeenSpace!!
Here goes!
(^-^)
Kaichi

And heeeeeeere's the art for the black t-shirt, and also an example of how it will look on the shirt:

And the t-shirt, itself:

What do you guys think? Too plain? Too fancy? Too silly? What would you like to see on a black t-shirt? As always, participation in this thread does not obligate anyone to buy stuff!
(^-^)
Kaichi

Like the t-shirt but living in England it would b waayyy too expensive to get it shipped over here. Otherwise i would think about getting one for my birthday or something. And i have been trying to post for the last couple of days but the forum went odd! Shame that that long post has been cut down, i wanted to find out what max was gonna do!!

Sigh...yeah, the forum problem is starting to get on my nerves, big time. I keep wondering why it gets quiet in here, and then I try to come in and can't get in, myself. Maybe I should be using something more like Carson Fire is using on Elf Life, that Blog thing he has set up. Have any of you looked at that? Do you like it? At least I'd have some control over that, whereas I have no control at all over this forum, except for the ability to delete or edit posts. I can't even change the colors!
Part of me thinks it was a bad idea to move over to KeenSpace in the first place. I've had more downtime here than I had at even such crummy hosts as Geocities and Freeservers! Wish I could afford to pay for my own, ad-free hosting.
Sorry for the whining in Friday's Chatterbox, btw. I keep forgetting about this quirky forum sometimes not letting people post. I'm really mad about that missing thread! I want to know what Max does, too...
(^-^)
Kaichi

I got some new info on the shirts, that I thought I'd pass along to you guys. I''ll be doing the shirts through ToonShirts instead of through CafePress, now, so the shipping prices will be slightly better than the Gods-awful CP prices. Not a lot better, but better. Here's the shipping and handling charge list they've given me:
US:
1 shirt: $4
2 shirts: $6
3 shirts: $8
4 shirts: $10
Canada/Mexico
1 shirt: $5
2 shirts: $7
3 shirts: $9
4 shirts: $11
All other countries
1 shirt: $8
2 shirts: $10
3 shirts: $12
4 shirts: $14
It's still rather high, for just a shirt, but it's better than CafePress, which can be up to $20 to ship outside the US!! I'm not sure yet what the actual price of the shirt will be, but I'm going to try to keep it below $16.
The desktop/wallpapers, ecards and stuff like that will, of course, be free downloads. I just have to find the time and energy to actually make them. Heh...
(^-^)
Kaichi

But first, I have to do more art for it. I think an action pose would be good for wallpaper. What do you guys think?
(^-^)
Kaichi

I've just found out what styles of shirts I can get through Toonshirts (though I'm still waiting on some other info from the guy there). In addition to the regular black and white t-shirts, they also have these styles:
A ring shirt, basically a regular t-shirt with black collar and sleeve edges:

A baseball-style jersey with longer sleeves in black:

And a sleeveless ladies' shirt, that is cut shorter in the body than a regular t-shirt:

Any of these look interesting? All are available in several different sizes, ranging from small to X-large (some are available in even larger sizes). The first design I have won't work on the sleeveless shirt, though, as it's too tall. I'd have to design one that is wider and shorter.
I'm going to try to get to work on the first wallpaper file, sometime this week, so that should be up (I hope!!) very soon.
Oh yeah, and while I'm on the subject of merchandise, I've closed my CafePress store, altogether. They've raised prices, yet again, now on mousepads and mugs! There's no way to make any kind of profit on those things without gouging readers, and I'm not going to do that. I'll keep an eye out for another service to do mugs and mousepads or whatever, but for now, I guess shirts are it, for merchandise.
Kaichi
