Woah! Read the article you linked to... And, man, is it loopy!<P>His whole argument is based solely on his perspective, which is almost inarguable. There are times he plays on common sense over social ethics (animal rights, being one I think I agree with him), but other times he just seems convinced that -- I don't know. That women are horrible and plotting to destroy society?<P>I'm interested in seeing a conversation here because I feel that reading it bent my mind a bit. <P>------------------

One of the weird things in that rant was his using biblical/christian rhetoric to support some of his points. Based on my having read the first Cerebus collection, I had the impression he was totally cynical and skeptical about traditional & organized religion...<P>------------------

Yeah, but he was using some loopy thing. The "Synoptic Jesus."<P>I already used loopy.<P>Anywho, the word synoptic worries me because I only know it as a villain on Spider-Man Unlimited. And you should know how I let that shape my life.<P>But, breaking it down, it was truly tangential. That whole section on Martin Luther King was almost entirely unrelated to his main anecdotal point.<P>------------------

I read part of that Sims rant awhile ago. he's out there. I've actually never read Cerebus - is he that loopy in his comics too? I couldn't finish the rant though, all his argument was untestable - it was basically opinion I guess.<P>Anyhow, Russ - just wanted to check in and post. Didn't get today's at all. Am I missing a GO related in-joke? The candy and goth-world series was strange. I never quite got where you were going with it. But you know I am awfully jealous of the free-form of your strip. It makes this site interesting and unexpected. I wonder if I pen myself in by telling an ongoing story... <P>I want more Shakespeare-related comics though!!<P>Okay, also did you get an earlier email from me about ALTBRAND - related stuff? Hi Robb!<P>Not sure which altbrand email you mean... quite possibly it got lost in the flood that is my inbox these days. (Damn that ecartoonists list!) Sorry if I missed something, please resend if it's still relevant. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/frown.gif"><P>Cerebus starts out as a sort of silly Conan adventure spoof, and (I'm told) in later issues gets more serious and satirical of society in general. I enjoyed the first collection enough to want to read more.<P>My most recent go comic is exceedingly absurdist and obscure... Combination of inside joke from something a friend said, and the fact that (as many go players know), non-go players delight ceaselessly in making incessant jokes about go stones looking like tasty mints... add in a dash of last minute surrealism, and voila, my most impenetrable comic yet. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/smile.gif"><P>Glad to hear bdr is back in action. These days I don't read any webcomics daily/regularly, but instead catch up in batches every few weeks, so I'd have hit it eventually. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/smile.gif">
