Thanks, Tim! I was surprised at getting the nominations. I don't think KoFC is worthy of Best Concept since I don't really have a concept... like Indiana Jones, I'm just making it up as I go along. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/smile.gif"> KoFC certainly is "Other" though. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/smile.gif">Congrats and good luck with the Odd Jobs nominations, which were far less surprising news...If anyone doesn't know what we're talking about, there is a webcomics award thingie intended to be analogous to Academy Awards or something (voted on by webcartoonists). Odd Jobs got some nominations, and so did KoFC (to my surprise).------------------

Well, I haven't mentioned it on my site for multiple reasons:1. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the awards in the first place2. I am not comfortable doing "campaigning" or horn tooting -- nor would I want to encourage an atmosphere of campaigning3. I don't know that campaigning would do anything for me anyway4. In the unlikely case I actually won I would rather it be based solely on voters' decisions from seeing my comics instead of me campaigning5. I don't really feel remotely worthy in the best concept category so it would feel ridiculous to campaign for it -- I'll probably vote for comicollage, which will only be a 1/7 conflict of interest! <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/smile.gif">6. I'm busy & distracted with too much other stuff and too lazy to campaign. Actually, I'm very pleasantly surprised at the diversity to them.A few weeks ago, I'd emailed Russ with my prediction that popular comics and anime comics would get the most nominations. I think the final nominations have a good mixture.I voted for KoFC in every catagory it appeared!I'm amazed that NO ONE is talking about the voting this week. Zip, nada on the message boards as far as I can tell. Which means to me that people are taking these seriously - which is good - but are they taking them too seriously?

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>Well, that's pretty much why I haven't started any threads - I don't want anyone to perceive an attempt at honest discussion of the nominees with blatant self-promotion. But that doesn't explain why other people haven't gabbed about it. I mean, this is a great opportunity to compare and contrast different works of art that have been set up together in a list. Whether that list is valid or not is besides the point. Or is could be a point in a discussion. Oh well, maybe next year I won't let anyone vote for Odd Jobs so I can get something started on the boards.------------------
