Yes indeed, I just got my email too!Looks like there are still a few tweaks needed, but it's good to see it back... here's the feedback email I just wrote to Rossman:-----Hmm, looks like you've removed the gaps in the strip numbering. That is a serious bummer since I know a fair number of people have links to strips by number. I know I do at my site <A HREF="http://www.kofightclub.com." TARGET=_blank>www.kofightclub.com.</A> Need the ability to enter an author name to search for them.I'd put the newsbox below the strip -- the strip being the main point of the site -- so one needn't have to scroll down to see the strip, which gets real old real fast when browsing through a series of strips.The Submit a strip page doesn't seem to have an obvious way to browse/enter the file name; I see name/password/title but no filename field. (Maybe it appears after you hit submit button? I don't know since I didn't have a strip in jpg format to submit, although I have some gif strips...) Also I don't see a way to do account management (e.g. change my password).New feature request: it would be nice if there were also a "go to author's webpage" link next to the "More by this author" link. I think I recall entering my website when registering long ago and wondered why that info was never used.A direct link to the bench phorum would be useful as well.Glad to see the bench surviving and entering into a new phase of its life! Thanks again for taking it over!-----Oh yeah, I also wrote him an email asking to confirm: is the bench really no longer accepting gifs? A pity if so, since they are often much nicer crisper than jpgs for typical bench art (including most of mine).

Cool, a quick reply from Rossman already:-----yeah sorry about breaking links but i had to steal everything off the old
server and rebuild it all from scratch so that sort of thing happens.
nothing i can (or could) do about it man...i'll be tweaking stuff like the news and shit as time goes on, thanks for
the suggestions.you can search for an authors strips with a link like: <A HREF="http://192.168.1.1/search.asp?author=PuffBunny" TARGET=_blank>http://192.168.1.1/search.asp?author=PuffBunny</A> or whatever the authors name is.the script will ask you for the file once it knows who you are, so that
works fine. there is no current way to change you account info but there
will be. again when i have time.i don't have the URL's the the author's sites so i can't do that part sorry.-----He also replied about gifs; said he's very pressed for time basically. Also thought the old bench didn't actually have any gifs in it, but it does, so who knows, maybe they actually still work. This is indeed good news, although there's still some work left to be done. I've just checked out the site and the archives no longer seem include the author's name nor the submission date. Which means making effective statistics is no longer possible.I still have the original list with all the official numbers on it. Perhaps Rossman can use that to bring the original links back.

Gifs are accepted and work, as before. It seems the software renames them with jpg extension which made it confusing, but they are still gifs and work fine. I uploaded my latest 3 gifs.Hopefully he'll get the cookies working properly again so it doesn't always start you with strip #1. I assume all that sort of thing is on the way; he's definitely still debugging/tweaking. I was up till 1:30am emailing with him. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/smile.gif">------------------

Yes, that's right, I thought a Fight Club line was in fact a Four Weddings and a Funeral reference.I'm glad that the Bench is (sort of) back and (kind of) running smoothly. Everytime I think I'm out, they keep pulling me back in!------------------

Yeah, it's certainly still in a chaotic state!Another change I've noticed: unapproved strips don't show up in the "strips by this author" page like they used to. I used to use that feature in preparing my sunday KoFC pages.This Bench situation is really rather surreal!------------------

The system still seems a bit flaky though. I miss the classic archives list with the author and submission date, sigh...
Hope Rossman can get it to work on a later date.
