Comicking

I am trying to inject some life in this forum. Even if it takes me posting 500 messages myself, I will do it...<P>Anyway. I've been talking to myself (for lack of anyone else to talk to (don't feel <B><I>guilty</I></B> or anything for staying silent, y'all)), and I've wondered if the strip format is too limited. Then again, a "page" format is not too good for "one shot" presentations that daily web comic are. I always feel that I'm reading a book which pages have fallen out of when reading a "page" comic. I know Scott McCloud has covered the territory in depth (and if you haven't yet, go buy "understanding comics"), but a second opinion is always a good thing.<P>------------------

I've always liked a page-comic format, but don't let that stop you!
One idea you could try is comics of varying sizes based on what you want to do, rather than being constrained into the same number of panels (and shape of panels). I don't know if Keenspace actually allows that, though.

Keenspace allows any size and shape you like, but that's part of the problem. Putting up a 15 meg strip wouldn't win me any favours. Speed is still an issue, with 56k modems and a slowish keenspace server (this is not to say I'm ungrateful, but it is slow at times). A page format is much larger and slower. Splitting it up is also difficult, especially with the auto-update feature. Not that I've ever tried, mind.<P>I was thinking of something along the more revolutionary lines of Mr Mccloud (yes, you will get sick and tired of hearing about him from me), who proposes a really weir format of "scrolling" comics (take a look at Zot, through <a href="http://www.scottmccloud.com">ScottMcCloud.com</a>), but it seems to take a lot of effort, and a lot of effort is not what I'm known for... :0<P>------------------
