This story arc contains a lot that strikes close to home with the creators. *sigh*
------------------

I know that feeling well, just from working in the industry I remember two things. If the service is good and the food sucks still tip the server 90% it's not their fault. Unless they treated back of the house like crap. If the food is good, let the cooks know, they like getting compliments and dont get em very much.
Of course in this comic one of the great mysteries of the world is answered. When animal/humans sit...where the hell do they put that fluffy tail? Now we know.
The Pooka (Squirrel if you must know)

Otters get shorted, though. Unless the chairs are the sort where the back doesn't meet the seat, we're screwed.
Figuratively speaking.
So I guess we'd sit on the arm of the sofa.
------------------

Heh! We Genets have curlable tails, so seats with full backs pose no significant problems. Lift doors, on the other hand... *shudders*

Hey, gang!
If you look closely at some of the comics where the cast have been sitting in chairs, you'll notice that the PDI universe (and its chair manufacturers) has it taken care of. Tony's foresight, not mine.
------------------

the waitress was okay. our tip was "get a different job".. those places are about half a step above mcdonalds, but only because greasy boys are kinda cute...
but yeah... stiffing the waiter because of a shitty meal does suck... i figure the waiter is there for entertainment purposes only.... as long as s/he's entertaining, it's all good... and therefore a tip... i once tipped a waiter more than the cost of the meal... but he also called the number i wrote on the back of the $20, and appreciated the praise of his kind service & shapely bum... that was the only $20 i spent on that trip to florida.. well worth the price...
and i'm a bunny...i don't need a tail cut-out...
------------------

There is a resturaunt/bar down here called Maggie's that serves decent food at prices college students can actually afford . . . My friends and I (who were known as "The Horde" by various people/groups on campus) would regularly descend upon the place.
Due to the crap we pulled (lemon "shots", fork branding and rewiring a horrible band's equipment so they couldn't get over a whisper among other things) only certain waitresses would put up with us. Those learned to play with us and it was not all unusual for them to earn a 75 to 150% tip.
The highlight was when we came in and asked for Sandy's area, table for 20 (or so) and the manager/welcomer looked at us in dawning horror and said "Oh God! You're, you're . . . THEM!"

Its the little things that make me happy.
------------------

Oh God was that fun. Me and the back of the house got to decide who stayed and who went. We had this agreement with the Bartenders. They got free snacks and we got little extras in our sodas.
Strangely enough the management never found out about it. Work was a blast most of the time. Even when slammed.
The Pooka

That, and people with thinner, more flexible tails(ie pretty much any land-dweller) can curl them around and still sit comfortably, though I imagine it would help to have a little "notch" running the length of the chair, where the back meets the seat. (I actually saw chairs like this, in the lounge of McMaster's Life Sciences Building, presumably so things that fall down between the cushions, like pens and such, are accessible.) Otters, beavers, and cetaceans just can't put their tails through that kind of bend. Nor, I'd imagine, could fish(but the whole "gills" thing becomes a problem with them way before they need to worry about chairs).
------------------

I had the cliche oversized brandy snifter for tips on the piano and used to only get tips from alcoholic, chain-smoking divorcees in their mid 40's who used to look at me like a dog looks at a steak in the butcher's window.
I can still see their craggy, desperate eyes undressing me as they clutched a whiskey sour in one shaking hand and the burning stub of a cigarette in the nicotine stained fingers of their other hand.
"Hey there, piano-man. How would you like to come back to my room afterwards for a cocktail." they'd croak in their phlegmy voices.
"Gosh I'd love to ma'am," I'd answer in my squeaky-voiced teenager alto. "But I have a math test tomorrow I need to study for and if I'm not home soon after work my mom gets worried."
Then they'd stuff a few dollars in the tip glass (Canada used to use paper dollars back then) and they'd say "Well here's a few dollars from your auntie to buy yourself something nice."
*shudder*....

I was only there until the dinner break at the last OSAMU show myself because I had a show that night.
Did they show the Gatchaman 2000 clip?
Damn... I missed the end of Cowboy BeBop too. Now I'll have to go rent it from Bayshore and I think they only have the dubbed version, which actually isn't all that bad except for Jet's voice.
I almost cried when Ed left. I got such a kick out of her.

------------------
