What are you reading?

Myself, I just finished reading Lost by Gregory Maguire (Of Wicked and Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister fame), and it was a fabulous book -- in more than one meaning of the owrd.Next, I will either pick up The Girl who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King or re-read The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus by L. Frank Baum (of Oz fame) -- I was going to read King's Dreamcatcher next, but Tony got to it first.So, what are PDI-readers reading?------------------

I actually decided on Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco (of Name of the Rose fame).Lord knows I had enough time to start it while awaiting the Everquest: Shadows of Luclin install.------------------

Just finished Obsidian Butterfly by Laurell K. Hamilton.
Am being tempted to read Harry Potter again, but have resisted the urge thus far.

Right now I'm reading my psychology textbook . . . .or avoiding reading it rather . . .but in an hour I get to reward myself by finishing up my second reading of teh third Harry Potter book . . . And I read and liked Wicket, what is Lost about?

Lost is backstory on Dickens' A Christmas Carol -- seasonally appropriate, don't you think? It reads like a supernatural psycho-mystery, and is just lovely.------------------

I just finished The Annotated Lovecraft. "The Rats in the Walls" is great. I'm not sure where I'll go from here, though....H G Wells, maybe. Or more Lovecraft.------------------

I am currently reading 'claudius the god' by robert graves 'lifehouse' by spider robinson and 'the last hero' by terry pratchett.I'm also continually admiring my personalized autograph in the paperback 'dream country' volume of the sandman collection. I just finished The Bone Doll's Twin (fantasy) by Lynn Flewelling (which is set in the same world but well before her previous trilogy). It was good but vaguely disturbing.I am now reading Defender (sci-fi) by C.J. Cherryh. It is the 5th book in this particular world (but only the 2nd in this series). She has a great fondness for dumping unsuspecting colonists in unusual places. She also writes some of the most ALIEN sapients aliens I've ever read. Nothing like having a writer hit you up the back of your head with your own assumptions.------------------

Well, my brain's not ready for poor ol' Umberto just now -- So I've moved to King's Dreamcatcher. Eco's a bit too challenging for me at this time of year. ------------------

Oh, so yhou are one of thouse Facncy "LUCLIN" people... Bah! some of us just have to get by with Ruins of Kunark....Of course i bet yhou just bought it so yhou could play the Vah'Shir (a race of cat-people, playable only if yhou have the new expantion - called Lucilin ~ for thouse of yhou who have no clue what i am talking about).... That's the only reason i whould get it... If i had money...Oh, on a more topical post... i'm RE-reading "fellowship of the ring" To be honest, I read the whole series about five yhears ago, and i only liked was "the Hobbit"... now with the movie coming out, every one is reading them. That means i have to re-read them, just to refreash my memory so i don't sound stupid when people talk about them....Next i'll probly read "the tempest" by shakespear...

Hmmm...Just read Terry Goodkind's Wizard's First Rule
first fantasy book I've read for quite sometime who's author wasn't orally attached to Tolkien's dessicated penis, but managed to write a frikkin' great book all the same.Check it out...
A Fantasy book with strong female characters... is this an anomally in Fantasy writing or what? ^_~

i'm kinda working on orlando by woolf, catch 22 by heller, and i'm considering a couple of re-reads, as well as going through a reference on haiku and seasonal references and a book on a longer form of japanese poetry called tanka. in addition, i've got a book that i'm slowly finishing in the non-fiction department; an analysis on the significance of the algorithm on our modern society. all this in between studies from my old college logic text and whatever it is i pick up here & there. yeah, i'm a freak. so what?------------------

Recently finished the fourth Harry Potter (finally found a copy at my friend's house), then went to _The Silent Gondeliers_ by William Goldman, _The Pillars of Creation_ by Terry Goodkind (seventh or so in the series starting with _Wizards First Rule_, above), currently in the middle of _Beyond World's End_ by Mercedes Lackey (something like fourth or so in the Bedlam's Bard series).Enjoyed them all muchly.Brian Roney

I'm reading The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman, and browsing The Academy, fourth book in the Marketplace by Laura Antinoniou.The first is a parallel-history fantasy that seems quite promising, the latter is a series of novels about slaves -- consensual slaves, that is -- in the modern day. It's fairly well-written, although the editor should be caned -- every occurance of the word "than" is spelled "then." Clearly a spell-checker is over-relied upon.------------------

Okay, I've now finished both the Pullman trilogy and the naughty quadrilogy, and I'm about to re-read Terry Pratchett's Equal Rites for fun.And in other news, watching "Holy Grail" with subtitles form Henry IV part II is funny. As is the Lego version of "Knights of the Round Table".------------------

If I filter out the gender prejudice, it looks to be an interesting read. Might be "the" book I should've read long, long ago.

Just finished reading The Right to Arm Bears by Gordon Dickson. Great sci-fi novel about humans trying to deal with an alien race called the Dilbans, who look like bears, though they walk upright.
