i hate my drawings...i think they're crap. other people tell me they look good but i don't know...i think i'm too hard on myself. i didn't use to be until i entered in a little art contest where i went to school and i lost to crap...that didn't make me feel so good and i stopped drawing alot after that

...but that doesn't mean that i've stopped enjoying your comic, jae...
the recent red menace was the best writer's block i've ever seen, and today's mention of neil diamond nearly had me wetting myself.
as always, tho i'm not much of a forum poster anymore (no time, dammit), i'm still a faithful and very entertained reader...
just in case you wanted to know
------------------

Dun worry about it m'man, Idon't post to forums much lately either and I still read my comic too. Pretty much all the ones i list on my main page for that matter too. That red menace thing was the result of random scribbling on a page. I actually never intended it to go beyond a single comic cover. What can I say, I needed filler.
------------------

Also, I kinda wanted to show how easy it is to write the crap that people call professional comic books nowadays. So simple, in fact that I could do it with a bad case of writer's block. The industry has really let me down.

the beauty of art is in the doing. I could do fine art type stuff if I chose, but doing comic strips makes me happy. It's drawing them that makes me happy. The end result can be crap. the original joke can be crap, but actually putting it to paper makes me smile. I guess what i'm trying to say is, "who cares what people say about your art? Who cares how it looks when you're done? Enjoy the doing and don't worry about it."

I think everyone can't stand their own art. Sure, you can sometimes suprise yourself. But you are always first to notice what you could've done better. I'd say don't be so hard on yourself, Squishy, but I'm just as bad as you with criticism.
Sometimes, I'm happier when I'm done drawing. It's when I do fashion illustrations that I get carried away in the making of it.
Drawing is great!!!!! I hope you never quit Squishy.
And Jae, I agree with Damonk!!!! But now that more time has passed I can extend it to the recent storylines as well. Excellent job with the whole cloning thing and the red menace.
Pauly
Pauly

Thanks pauly, and all you guys for that matter. I really appreciate your readership. You guys make this strip what it is. and you always seem to make these type comments at exactly the right times. I start feeling highly unappreciated and you guys are like, "hey, good strip." Makes my efforts feel justified.
On a side note, I'll probably be starting another contest soon. I need some button graphics. For anyone who's reading this and on the ball, this means you can get a head start. Please don't send me any til after i announce the start of the contest at the end of this month, okay?
------------------

button graphics. little 88 x 33 (wider than tall) pixel images that speak volumes about my strip.
Being pagan I am a little bit resentful that everyone celebrates saint anything's day. Nobody ever celebrates nature mother or horned god day. Nor do they celebrate Lao Tzu day. I don't think christian saints really are so special that they deserve me to ignore my beliefs and get fitshaced because their name appears on all the secular and non-secular calendars.
------------------
