As some of you may or may not know, one of Josh's other comics, "Fresh From The Ice Box" ended today.
I thought this would be the best may to get the word out on Mr. Nickerson's other project to a crowd of fans
The comics are similar, and even use some of the same gags. For the readers of www.dmgice.com though, it was much more. Fresh From the Icebox was personal. Not only that, but Josh singlehandedly gave birth to the snowflake (
http://dmg.keenspace.com) with his ground breaking comic. His example led others to follow in his footsteps (like myself). Although no other snowflake strip was quite as loved as Josh's FFTIB.
The sense of community in his strips was what gave it a lot of it's charm. The characters themselves are people everyone knew, and their character traits gave way to much laughter. More so than that, Josh contributed a lot to the community itself. I didn't really feel validated until he ran this strip:

Could it be? Was someone reading MY comic? Was someone even, gasp, parodying it?
I was overjoyed.
This is the kind of community I'm talking about, and it will be missed. However, I can look forward to reading about an hour or two of "The Nolan's" archives.
So please, if you enjoy the Nolan's, check out Josh's lesser known work, you will not regret it.
-- The Boinker
