Unplugging the Icebox

As some of you may or may not know, one of Josh's other comics, "Fresh From The Ice Box" ended today.
I thought this would be the best may to get the word out on Mr. Nickerson's other project to a crowd of fans
The comics are similar, and even use some of the same gags. For the readers of www.dmgice.com though, it was much more. Fresh From the Icebox was personal. Not only that, but Josh singlehandedly gave birth to the snowflake (http://dmg.keenspace.com) with his ground breaking comic. His example led others to follow in his footsteps (like myself). Although no other snowflake strip was quite as loved as Josh's FFTIB.
The sense of community in his strips was what gave it a lot of it's charm. The characters themselves are people everyone knew, and their character traits gave way to much laughter. More so than that, Josh contributed a lot to the community itself. I didn't really feel validated until he ran this strip:

Could it be? Was someone reading MY comic? Was someone even, gasp, parodying it?
I was overjoyed.
This is the kind of community I'm talking about, and it will be missed. However, I can look forward to reading about an hour or two of "The Nolan's" archives.
So please, if you enjoy the Nolan's, check out Josh's lesser known work, you will not regret it.
-- The Boinker

Well, we were all regs. First Came Icebox, then US, then B&W, next came mine, AT Freak, and from there came Snowflake studios.
It feels good to be an original
(oh yeah, and leiberman was an original too )

Hiya Boinker! Single-handedly created Snowflake Studios???? But what about me???? I helped too! The Usual Suspects was around before the Snowflake moved to Keenspace and became Snowflake Studios! Sure, no one here's probably heard of The Usual Suspects, or this season's The Usual Suspects: Advance (The USA), but I was still an original! I brought many joys to my fans! Though I must admit, The USA has never been as popular as Josh's comics. But that doesn't matter. They're fun to do. (When I'm not too busy procrastinateing ) I admit, Fresh From The Icebox will be a missed comic around Snowflake Studios. But maybe this will give the rest of us a chance to shine even brighter, as the stars of Snowflake Studios. Well, at least there's still the Nolans!

Yeah, well I started the second generation of Snowflake Studios comics with DMG Files.
DMG Files, Paul and Ivan, ALBOS, Alces, Weak Link. None would have been possible without the first generation comics.
And still, there is yet a third wave just getting underway. Crushed Ice, Spawn of Robin's Mind, Short End of the Stick, World Domination, Squirrel, Hero Wanted, and C3. And we all owe thanks to Josh for paving the way with Fresh From the Icebox.
-H
------------------
