Grr...I already made this joke...
"Plagiarize, plagiarize, plagiarize! Only remember always to call it please, 'research'!" - Tom Lehrer, "Lobachevsky"
------------------
"Truth hides on the other side of a two-way mirror
In countless documents sent straight to the shredder
That might finally give us the whole of the picture
But until the day we decide to dig a little deeper
We know that truth will hide
Under fallen rocks and stones
At the end of a disconnected phone
Down an unmarked street
And buried, deep beneath your feet."

Our attention span makes Alice look like a monolith.
Actually, gwalla, when I read your post I still hadn't seen the whole "base" phenomenon... I didn't have the vaguest idea what it was about. EN clued me in on what it was, though I knew it must be something with Nick Yu's guest strip for Avalon. So the whole thing had slipped my mind when I was surfing around and wasting time. Forgive me? Love me? Visit my site? Worship Erin?

Yeah, okay, it's wrong. I spent thirty seconds on it, so I don't give a crap.

Sorry, Ucchan... spread not from Avalon, but from Exploitation Now. Poe made the massive mistake of putting up an unlettered version of a strip, which then resulted in about fifteen bastardizations of it, one of which was the EN Base Strip. And since every other webcomic's made a nod to this recently, I decided, "what the hell, I'll compromise my artistic integrity and letter over an existing Damonk strip".
I was surprised how well it fit, actually.
