I've started playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advance again. Unlike my previous attempts, I'm going in with a complete understanding of the game mechanics and quirks. It's been freaking AWESOME.
My current 6-member engagement squad consists of:
1 Fighter (High attack, several attack abilities.)
1 Assassin (Arguably the best class in the game, several kickass abilities and can use greatbows and freaking KATANAS.)
1 Black Mage/Gunslinger (8-panel range for the win... literally.)
1 White Mage (Don't leave home without one!)
1 Mog Knight (Still working on him, but he'll be insanely effective once he levels up once or twice.)
1 Templar (Probably going to replace him soon, maybe with a Juggler.)
And I haven't even gotten the first Totema yet. :D

Make sure to give the MP turbo skill to the black and white mages. My suggestion for the whit mage is to get all the skills in that and set it as a secondary abillity and invest some training into other attack classes (especially the higher level nu mou ones).
Assassin definitely needs that deathblow thing.
Mog Knight is severely over rated, and your fighter covers most of the mog's abilities in some way or another . Swap him out for a human paladin with dual wield
Make the Templar multiclass as a bishop, it gives good attack, defense, healing, and casting.
Also consider training a red mage til the point she get's double cast then training her as a summoner. Double cast summoning is the best casting in the game.

A slightly better combination for your Black Mage is Mog Knight\Gunner. Mog knights are pretty mediocre on their own, but when you have a gunner who can bombard enemies with a vast variety of stronger attacks than gunning, win is ensured. You might also want to consider swapping one of your Moogles to a Time Mage + Juggler. Surprisingly enough, Animist makes a pretty decent class to use as well.

Also, considering swapping your fighter to a Paladin while keep his fighter skills. This new unit will kill everything on his own. Everything.

And as Niko said, RED MAGE + SUMMONS = WIN BUTTON. Summons are pretty powerful on their own, but given a unit with the ability to cast multiple summons a turn who can also fight decently with melee and has a solid defense and evade is literally the best thing ever. Also, consider stacking your Assassin with Sniper skills and a bow. The instant kills at close range coupled with the ability to pelt enemies with status and weakening conditions is totally amazing.

Also, once your White Mage has enough skills down, switch him to a Blue Mage. The result is a high attack spellcaster who literally becomes a Swiss-Army Knife of spells with solid melee abilities. While he won't be getting as many kills as your Paladin\Fighter, you'll still be taking names for the best of them.

On a related note, FFTA1 or FFTA2 people?

In otherwise unrelated news, I'm about halfway done with The Suffering.

Hey guys,

I wasn't trying to come off as deceptive, I do work for a marketing company as I mentioned in the prior post, but I am also a WoW subscriber, I dropped the link so that others might check out the 14 day trial as I know it's longer than blizzard's offered 10 day trial.

This is a gaming thread and I thought I'd post about my recent experiences as I've just hit 80 in what's become my favorite game. I have in the past been an extensive gamer, having once been big into the fight game tournament circuit, and a big comic fan also, if you'd rather I not post here again, then i respect that as well

In before Niko or Von could alienate you forever, thank goodness.
I thank you for posting that link (I myself subscribe to WoW) but it seemed so much like an ad I assumed you were some kind of sleeper agent. I'm glad to see you (probably) aren't a sleeper agent, but I think you'll have to hang around here a little longer (and maybe post in the other threads) before you become even partially accepted.
Anyways, welcome to the Dreamaniac forums, read my comic (linked in my sig), keep posting, you never know. Seeya around, I guess :) .

Our dear leader may welcome you but I am not so quick to do so. Just so that you know there is nothing to be gained from marketing to our group. each of us have already experienced wow either through the trial or subscription. And all other products will fall on deaf ears (because we're flat broke).
So if you are here to be a part of this forum I welcome you.
If you are here to try to sell to us. Save your time, leave now.

Obviously, I've been playing Guilty Gear, which is horribly addicting and pretty much as fun as BlazBlue. I'm maining two characters.

Image

Chipp Zanuff, the ninja of the game. Most likely the spiritual father of Bang. A word to describe his moves would probably be something along the lines of EPIC or BADASS. Not to mention...HE'S GOT A BLADE ON HIS ARM.

In metagame speak, he's fast, can attack even faster, jumps freaking EVERYWHERE, and has easier to pull off specials than most other characters. One of his specials is a simple half-circle back and the Heavy Slash button, and you do about 40% damage, not to mention it can hit people anywhere on the screen, provided they're not guarding. His damage is on the low side compared to characters like Potemkin, Dizzy, and Sol, but he makes up for that in speed.

Image

A.B.A. I love her design, she's a real unique character. She has two fighting modes, and you can switch between them as you fight. In her normal mode, she has pretty kickass defense, but is slow and doesn't dish out much damage. Once you turn her into "Double-Edged" A.B.A., you can do a lot more damage in a lot less time. The only drawback is that each hit she makes deals damage to her. If you use a certain move to turn back into normal mode, though, you can regain all the health she lost in Double-Edged, which I think is pretty cool. Her specials are tricky, though.

tl;dr version:

Guilty Gear is epic, I play as a ninja and a psychotic chick. They're both pretty awesome, though I still need work.

keeptruckin, I'm down with you posting around here, though our resident board bomber isn't on board. I, of course, would prefer if you didn't do ads on our boards, but if you want to talk gaming, and read the comic, I personally see it as an improvement to our boards. We don't get a lot of outside-our-group traffic, so it's nice to see someone else around here. and, obviously, you haven't posted much, so something had to spark your attention to come to this little board!

Anywho, welcome to the boards, I'm the other mod on this slice of the universe (Dreamaniaccomic is the other, obviously), so if you need any help, don't hesitate to ask. Enjoy, sir! (just no more ads, m'kay?)

Also, on topic, I've decided to main Haku-Men in BlazBlue. Teehee Gurren!!!

And also, for Elliot:

By the way, TELL ME WHETHER OR NOT GUILTY GEAR IS AT THE TOURNAMENT. I'm not going to go if my only reason is to play a game I practice once a week.

EDIT: THIS MEANS YOU, ANDREW! I SEE YOU ONLINE! YOU CANNOT HIDE FROM ME!

Whee.
I beat The Suffering last Thursday, and I must say "Wow'.
For all of you thinking "Wow, Wolfgang Von Gentlemen Andre makes The Suffering sound really amazing but I have no idea where to get it", fear not.
you can get it here.
Do it [deleted by moderator].

Now to move on to XIII.

Also, it would turn out that The Suffering: Ties That Bind is on PC.
I probably should have gotten that first.

Daggerfall? Free? NIKO, SHOW ME THE LIGHT.

In other news.

SPECTROBES ORIGINS.

Do not be fooled by NP's measly rating of 5.5. Every other critic on the net (Excluding Yahtzee for various reasons) gave it a solid score. Now, ratings are never a final answer, but I'll give you all my testimony.

I bought the first Spectrobes game going, "Wow, this might help my insatiable need for a monster-collecting game!" In short, it did. The fact that you had to WORK FOR YOUR MONSTERS (Literally, excavating good fossils SUCKS), along with creature designs that were totally Beyond the Impossible, made the game amazing. The story, however, not so much. Here's a synopsis.

Grant: Go to this planet.
Rallen: Okay
Jeena: OMG a distress signal
Rallen: We gotta help
Man: I am Aldous. These are Spectrobes. They kick Krawl ass.
Rallen: AWESOME
Aldous: Now go.
Grant: Come back Krawl are attacking
Rallen: Okay
[Insert Krawl kicking here]
Grant: They're still attacking, hit their weak point for massive damage.
Rallen: Okay
Krawl: RAWR
Rallen: *kicks ass*
*Credits*

Yeah, not phenomenal. Two of the greatest improvements to the game from Origins were graphics and story. The graphics, mainly, as you can now see your awesome Spectrobes in amazing 3-D. The Wii-ness really puts the right graphical touch on the game. The story also got a makeover, as we learn some Krawl origins and other stuff. The main distinguishing fact about Spectrobes is that the designs are so over the top that things don't make sense anymore. Here's an example.

http://storage.canoe.ca/v1/blogs-prod-static/mediam/komainu.jpg

Komainu. The Pikachu of Spectrobes.

http://www.vgblogger.com/wp-content/uploads/Games/SpectrobesII/Komanoto.jpg

Komanoto. Yes, THAT LITTLE THING BECOMES THAT.

http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/resources/images/805849/

Komadoros. I've come to believe that Komadoros is equivalent to...I don't even know anymore. HOW DOES THIS EVOLUTION WORK?

It's actually pretty simple. You feed them minerals and make them fight. Nothing real complicated. The one thing I love best about the game is the battle system. It's fully real time, a departure from Pokemon, and there's some motion control bits thrown in to pull off special attacks. Long story short, Disney did...something good. I'm very, VERY surprised. God I love this game. Haven't finished it, though. I'm close, I know it.

XIV out.

Go play Eversion. Now. All of you. And dang it, don't spoil it for yourselves by looking up information on the game, most posts or topics on it have spoilers out the face. It's a decently hard platformer (tvtropes lists it under Nintendo Hard, but I beat it in two hours), with an interesting twist, kind of like Braid, with the "so cute it will make you sick"-iness of a Kirby game. Oh, and make sure you get both endings, meaning one were you finish without all of the gems, and one where you go and get all of them and evert the gem counter on world 7.

When you beat it completely, PM me. First to do so gets $.50, if you can prove it. And, don't post spoilers until I say a couple of people have gone through it.

And, because I'm a nice guy, I'll even link to it: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?kv2oynammzv

I seem to be the only one to post anymore.
Hmmmm.

I got House Of The Dead:Overkill.
I like it, it's a game right up my ally.
Namely: full of grindhouse action, lots of zombies and topped with a no-holds-barred freakfest. It excites me in a way that is totally not healthy.

Also, I FREAKING UNLOCKED KLIFF AND JUSTICE!
I would post another picture of Seaking, but I won't. Just look at my above post.
Wewt.
