Shattered Truths Discussion

Post by XIVcaliber »

This is a thread requested by the author himself. Mainly, he wants us to talk about what we want in the epic final battle. Soooo, I'll hand the discussion over to Eric when he notices this.
What is the true path to victory? I say start with Flashman's stage.

... I haven't read Shattered Truths in a while. Hell, I've barely thought about pokemon lately.
That needs to change. Starting now.
Lessee here... I assume that in order to break out of the Team Galactic building, we'll have to get in first, yah? For that, I'd love to play the part of diversion. Quote + Sandstream = "SWEET DEAR GOD THE ONLY THING I CAN SEE WHEN THERE ISN'T SAND IN MY EYES IS A GIANT ANGRY THING!!! Also, some guy is yelling at me about justice and freedom!" (I'd go off on some hammy speech while riding on Quote's back.)

As for busting out...
I still have Corona during this one, so I wont use any Togekiss surfing, as it would risk her being exposed to combat. Kirly and Vesacies will probably be fighting in tandem. Lucona will flirt intensly with... er... what was your Lucario's name, Eric? Anyways, they'll be stunning grunts left and right with THE AURA, while the biggest, physically strongest of all our pokemon leads the charge through the doors (Quote?) The released pokemon will need to be guided out of harms way, which I'm sure some of Eric's other Eeveelutions can handle. At least, the one's who aren't engaged in...
THE FINAL BATTLE
...Which involved who, again?

There is a reason why there are only two posts on this forum. If I could Sage this thread I would.
Attencion por favor
Shattered Truths is well written, has a good storyline, and good characters. But It is a bad book because it is a waste of Eric's talent. Do not support this self destructive habit of his.
Gracias

Dude. It's practice. If you're using your talent for anything, then it isn't a waste, it's sharpening the knife.

*sigh* Niko...

I'm excited you joined these forums, but I'm not about to let you start up useless drama here. This is UNLIKE the forums you're on most of the time, as in these are casual discussion. Seriously, man.

Back on topic!
This is tangentally related, but I finally updated Chapter 11 of Pro Trainer. Check it out, remember to critique the piece and not the subject matter.
Eric, I need you to post about SOMETHING sometime. I enjoy your viewpoints, and would appreciate a summary (brief or otherwise) of Shattered Truths thus far.

BACK ON TOPIC, THEN.
... Elliot, shouldn't Eric be, I dunno, posting in this thread? I'm tempted to go over there and kick his lazy butt into gear, unless something really is taking up his time. This thread was MADE for him, you said so yourself.

Right, so I just got off work a little while ago. Let's get this started correctly.

First off, before we start planning any fine details, let's break down the list of Pokemon attendees at the event in question; namely, the Team Galactic beatdown.
At the current chapter of Shattered Truths, the following of my Pokemon shall be coming;

-Captured by TG, or, in other words, who we're going in for:
-Ravenpaw
-Rustfur
-Sapphire
-Saffron
-Rosalyn
-Ash
-Frostpelt
-Aurora
-Cinder
The next two are spoilers, but I'm pretty sure that I've already told Jake and Elliot about it, but for those who've not read ST, not a word of this leaves this forum, understood?
-Gemini
-Luna

-The Pokemon I'm bringing:
-Matthias
-Flametail
-Needlefur
-Torrentpaw
-Fireheart
-Leafpool

All told, that's a grand total of seventeen Pokemon for me. I now need the lists of the Pokemon that you two (Jake and Elliot) are bringing to this little..."shindig".
We've all been on the Pokemon bandwagon at one time or another. It's just a matter of how long ago you got off. I, on the other hand, am driving said bandwagon.

YAY! You're here! :D *gives cookies to everyone*
Right then, down to business. *muches on cookie*
Assuming I'm contacted on short notice, I'll probably have:
-Lucona (female Lucario, major flirt)
-Quote (male Tyranitar, easily enraged)
-Kirly (female Gardevoir, calm and analytical)
-Spruce (male Grovyl, wont be making an appearence)
-Corona (male Togekiss, might be used for my arrival but wont be used in battle)
I included short descriptions just in case you'd forgotten what their personalities were like.

If you plan to show yourself calling in the cavalry, here's a few ideas about where I might be when I get the call:
- Recieve the call in the middle of a battle, and I immediately bolt to assist you . The more important the battle is supposed to be, the better/funnier. It'll be downright hilarious/extremely indicative of my loyalty if it's in the middle of my championship match at the Battle Tower.
- Recieve the call while skysurfing, nearly drop the cellphone and then redirect my course to help you.
- Happen to be stopping by the place just as you call me.

You can choose whatever movesets you need for them, but I would like a little input on which move=which effect.

So...it looks like I only need to come up with movesets for three, as you said that Spruce won't be making an appearance, and that Corona won't be fighting.

Supposed Movesets:

-Lucona:
-Aura Sphere (What is a Lucario without this?)
-Force Palm (Perhaps could be used for removing grunts from our path?)
-Stone Edge (Because sharp, pointy rocks are cool.)
-Shadow Claw (lolfillermove)

-Quote:
-Giga Impact (For use during the charge on the final door.)
-Iron Head (Quote vs. Drapion.)
-Sandstorm (Used in conjunction with Elliot's Claydol's Sandstorm to hinder our pursuers.)
-Mega Punch (Brute force FTW.)

-Kirly:
-Reflect (Once we escape the confines of the TG base, can be combined with the Reflect from Rustfur and Elliot's Claydol.)
-Psychic (Again can be used with the psychic powers already on our team.)
-Focus Blast (Kirly needs a power move too.)
-Future Sight (Running out of moves here, feel free to add suggestions, Jake.)

Again, these are only supposed/suggested movesets. Ideas welcome.

My suggestions are in bold.

-Stone Edge (Because sharp, pointy rocks are cool.) I'd replace this with Ice Punch (which can be cool when played right), I'll explain why in a moment.
-Shadow Claw (lolfillermove) There are many alternatives, actually. Dragon Pulse, Flash Cannon, something flashy and bright to complement Aura Sphere's glowiness.

-Quote:
-Giga Impact (For use during the charge on the final door.)
-Iron Head (Quote vs. Drapion.) Actually, I had him using Stone Edge for the headbutt. The sharp edges grow out of both his hands, making his grip much more punishing, and his forehead, allowing him to charge forward.
-Sandstorm (Used in conjunction with Elliot's Claydol's Sandstorm to hinder our pursuers.)Tyranitar already has Sand Stream as an ability, blockhead. Crunch could be used on any small opponents as a replacement.
-Mega Punch (Brute force FTW.) Earthquake instead. Much, much, MUCH more brute force FTW.

-Kirly:
-Reflect (Once we escape the confines of the TG base, can be combined with the Reflect from Rustfur and Elliot's Claydol.) Actually, for a 'support' move I think Kirly would use Calm Mind to assist passively, and someone has to keep the freed pokemon from panicking.
-Psychic (Again can be used with the psychic powers already on our team.)Fine the way it is.
-Focus Blast (Kirly needs a power move too.) Thunderbolt, actually. Aura Sphere is already the 'ki blast' move on the team, so lets replace another blast with some lightning, eh?
-Future Sight (Running out of moves here, feel free to add suggestions, Jake.) Energy Ball or Shadow Ball as a replacement, or maybe Protect.

Again, these are only supposed/suggested movesets. Ideas welcome.

*noted*

They are your Pokemon, and, that sir, is why I'll probably use most (if not all) of your suggestions. Now we just need to do the same process with Elliot. o3o

Time for me to compile a list of my Pokemon I'll have with me.

Slashe (Male Weavile, won't be making an appearance to Rusty, because they've never met prior to SF.)
Vesacies (Male Gallade, chivalrous, would be protecting Kirly an awful lot.)
Metarosso (Male Scizor, old, but still has a lot of fight in him. Will take on multiple opponents at once.)
Virtumonde (Gender-Ambiguous Porygon-Z, will be busting down walls and making heads roll with HYPER BEAM.))
Adamantine (Male Steelix, very blunt and straightforward, enjoys taking on Pokemon his own size.)
Titania (Female Aggron, will be doing lots of smashing.)
What is the true path to victory? I say start with Flashman's stage.

Thank you for bringing that up, Jake, because you made me realize that the list of Pokemon that I'm bringing needs a little bit of revision. I actually already had an idea of how to break into the TG base. It involved my Butterfree and a wee bit of Sleep Powder. It'll work something like this: Butterfree knocks out the three grunts standing watch, we steal their cloaks and keycards. Convieniently, one of them is packing Cinder's Poke Ball, which I kindly relieve him of. From then on, it's a standard espionage operation.

As funny as your diversion would be, I'm thinking that we'll probably need a quieter, more secretive way in.
