Three years have passed since we've last seen Our Hero (or maybe it was a couple of weeks).
It's hard to tell in the scan (because the pencil is light and the paper is past off-white but not quite yellow) but there's a rock next to Supes.
On the rock there is a heart carved with the letters C. C. & L. C., which were two characters from the "novel" I'd been working on a few years earlier, which had the big showdown with Rotundo.
Next to that is an oddly-shaped thing with alien characters. It's supposed to be an alien's heart, obviously. Looks real good if you could actually see it.
