Vs. Battle Preliminaries

Postby SleepingOrange on Thu Jan 03, 2008 5:21 am

So we don't get confused near the end like we did in #3, I'm pruning the battle. Here are all the extraneous posts:

SpriteMeister wrote:This battle seems to be going nowhere fast. To make sure that you guys aren't using nigh-immortal characters, I want you to PM me damage reports after your opponent's posts. If I have any objections, I will let you know, but otherwise, continue as normal. I will try to be prompt, and I will not require you to wait for my response before acting, unless your opponent objects to the situation (after all, I don't want to slow down the battle).

Edit: Also, in your first PM, I want a list of things that could kill you, and I shall adjudicate (examples: Fire, Electricity, Physical attacks, Sharp weapons, Magic, Getting hit in a specific place, "Whatever would kill a normal human", etc.). Again, don't wait for my response, just assume it's alright unless I say otherwise.

As you were. [/high horse]

SleepingOrange wrote:Umm, Bandgeek? A colosseum (The way we've been playing it) is a stone building, not likely to have electricity. It's up to the judge, but I think our colosseum is the traditional Roman (Grecian?) type.

SpriteMeister wrote:That's what I've assumed the entire time too.
Also, you never sent me anything, bandgeek. (see above)

Death thought about it.

I think we should end this battle. No one's going to win. And orange hasn't posted in a long time.

Since Orange has battled everyone on the forum, he shall sit out for a while. He may still be a judge if he so wishes, though.

As we're setting up our next battle, I would like potential contestants to think of their motives.

Battle #5
Entrants: 2 (SpriteMeister, Silfedac)
Warriors: Ki-T, Simon
Motives: Catfood, Nothing
Duration: 20 posts (or until neither contestant can act)
Arena: Colosseum (Boundaries: 100-Yard diameter)
Judge: SleepingOrange
As always, feel free to request any changes.

I shall be using a battle-ready version of our favorite feline, Ki-T.
Ki-T is not particularly malicious (unless you smell like fish), so don't expect much in the offensive. He does have a few tricks up his sleeve, which will become apparent later.
Please note that this is an adjusted version of a character in my comic; what is shown in the battle is not necessarily canon.

A certain SOMEBODY (SpriteMeister denies everything) has promised Ki-T some premium catfood if he can win the battle. It is rumored that there might be some fishy promises involved, too.

I'll take this one. My combatant will be master of aloofness, my cat Simon.
Motive: None whatsoever!

Muahahaha! Catfight!

New rule (#11)

Sign-ups for Vs. Battle #6 have started, as we await judgement in #5.

Battle #6
Entrants: 2 (SpriteMeister, Darth Cloaked Guy)
Warriors: Kirby (from Dreamland 3), Crimsonn Draycko
Motives: Food, Redemption
Duration: 20 posts (or until neither contestant can act)
Taunt limit: 4 posts

Should we get bandgeek or Darth Cloaked Guy to battle me this time around?

PM Silfedac if you only want the judge to know something about your character, otherwise, post the description in this thread. Either way, I will need a name and motive to fill in the blanks with.
I will eventually create a topic that gives the info on past warriors, and you will be able to put your descriptions there.

Fighter: The Swordsman Crimsonn Draycko
Motive: Redemption.

Crimsonn Draycko was once training to become a paladin. In a freak accident, he injured his mentor and was unable to heal him. The wound eventually healed, but the young man was cast out of the realm and stripped of his title as squire of the Heironean Holy Order. He began a long quest to find his place in the world, and to prove himself. Nervous, shy, ashamed, and unsure of himself, he has wandered several worlds to search out an evil force to vanquish that he may prove himself and be atoned of his mistake.

Crimsonn wears a set of chainmail overlayed with steel plates that was given to him by his father, Sir Crimson Draco I, in secret at the beginning of his quest. He wears a black tattered cloak to show his shame. He carries a large shield and wields a longsword. Despite his armor, he does know some spellcasting and his armor doesn't seem to hamper.

Do not expect too much aggression from this one, he isn't one to make the first strike.
End of line.

Did he change his name in an, admittedly failed, attempt to preserve his family honor?

Buncha new rules!

Oh, and I think four posts is a good limit for our taunts this time, n'est-ce pas?

Indeed. Begin the taunts. There might be a little bonus for the victor, or a little malus for the loser.

What was the original reason? Was he ashamed of his parentage or something?

For unknown reasons, what I posted underneathe this quote seems to have disappeared.

Silfedac, you have it exactly opposite of correct.

I am so good at guessing things.

EDIT: Or maybe not. So his parentage was ashamed of him?

I propose, because I'm bored and Darth doesn't come on often enough, that Silf and I run a battle concurrently with Mesiter's, and that Meister judges. If this idea is a go, I will be using Captain Bibliography again; i feel it's about time someone to reuse a past warrior, and Mystic Theurges roxxor.

Having spoken to Meister in the real world, I got the go-ahead to do the second Vs. Battle.

Battle #7
Entrants: 2 (SleepingOrange, Silfedac)
Warriors: Captain Bibliography, Eddie
Motives: Entertainment, Thinks Capt. Has an 'Artifact'
Duration: 20 posts (or until one contestant cannot act)
Taunt limit: 4 posts
Arena: Ancient Woods (Boundaries: 100-Yard diameter)
Judge: SpriteMeister
As always, feel free to request any changes.

I say a different arena, though. I don't want to have to deal with you guys while I'm confusing DCG.
Creating new arena!

Volcano
Size: Standard (100-yd diameter)
Boundaries: Volcanic rock walls (side + top), lava (floor)
Active element: Fire (duh)
Description: A battle ground inside an active volcano. How original. There are cooler chunks of rock floating around the lava that warriors can stand on, and the walls offer many hand- and foot-holds. One can climb to the opening at the top, but may run into problems doing so (Judge's discretion).
Special attribute: Volcanic activity: The volcano is currently on the low end of it's volcanic activity. The 'floor' is mostly rock, and there is very little fluxuation in the lava's height.
