The Epic Struggle, the Post-Preview

Post by EmergencyExit »

Back when the crossover was getting underway Bean was trying out flash and started working on a trailer, you might have seen some bits of the old animation in the old forums. However then his computer had to be reformatted, the crossover started and other such busy things. But for practice he is trying it again, though the crossover has already happened, it is still epic. I didn't really do anything to help with this except establish how Eddie says his line. Everything is Bean's including Visage's voice, the voice of Eddie was provided by Justin Williams.

Okay, THAT was fabulous. :D  :D

Only I'll need to watch it again to try and catch the verbal exchange, I couldn't understand what was said. Otherwise it was most cool! :D

New and improved!

Bean and Justin are going to be working on that, it's tricky to get good sound quality with flash I hear. When it's completed I'll be putting it on the site.

So I'll have time to get back to this animation soon. Both here and on my Deviant Art account people seem to think the Eddie voice should be different (and I'd like to redo Visage's voice to be more clear too). Justin recorded several ideas, and I want to see what EE readers (and NJ) think fits the best. Or if one's going in a good direction and should be improved on.

Hmmm... these are for Eddie right?

In the first link - several of 'em are ok, I quite like the third attempt and the last couple.

Second link - I couldn't get it to play.

Third link - just no. I just don't like that voice.

Fourth link - I quite like the third attempt

Fifth link - I like the first one

Basically, it needs to be clear, several of those are too soft and the middle part of the quote is lost. I like 'em when the emphasis is on 'fun', sorta like:
A game isn't any fun... if won too easily. It needs a smile on the end.

To my mind, Eddie needs to sound happy and young or at least ageless (if that's even possible). He always seems to me to be childlike not stupid, so a slow, deep voice is out of character in my opinion (apologies to NJ if I'm reading him all wrong).

Voices!

Post by EmergencyExit »

Your friend is awesome Bean for being so into this, and I think he'd do a good Bob. Anyway,

The first batch and some from the last batch are the closes. Obviously second batch is the "Yugioh" batch and was hilarious to listen to. But none from the 2nd to 4th really work. I agree with Eheheh on the third attempt in the first batch being fairly good. It's hard to describe but something like that but slightly more..peppy? This is a semi serious mode for Eddie, but he does still tend to have that childish streak to him, especially talking about a game. I also like the idea of emphasis on "fun," I think that is how I did my versions of it. I also agree with Eheheh on the first attempt in 5th batch, same deal as first, I guess I'm saying use that voice but change the tone of the sentence a bit.

Otherwise again, he is doing a good job.

Alright, new ones.

I like the first myself. Justin likes the third. But it's more up to NJ and the readers.

Do dedicated he is.

I think I agree with Justin, the third seems to flow the best. Don't know if I really have much more to say in terms of advice, I'd like to hear it with a "Let's Play" attached to really get the feel of it, has he done any takes on that, besides breaking into song that is.

I think he wanted to get the voice down before doing both lines.
