September 7th - The Peace Keepers

Ha! I am the maker of comic threads now! Why exactly we need to make these threads when there's a tag-board is kind of questionable...however!

This "Peace Keeper" thing sounds interesting...but they actually may have appeared in the comic before, or at least been mentioned, and I was the super noob who forgot. That's happened to me before. Anyway, it sounds like the Templar don't like them and vice versa...but in that case wouldn't it kind of be ripping off Hellsing? And that was something about Hellsing that I, personally, didn't like, to. Two organizations with similar goals not only forming a rivalry, but willing to kill each other on sight...to me it seems a little dumb. Hopefully this isn't like that.

It's not really ripping off Hellsing because we don't know what it is yet; and even if it was, it doesn't matter. Technically Hellsing's thing is Protestant vs Catholic, so they're just ripping off history. And if you want to get secular with it, federal militia vs state militia. Two organizations with similar goals willing to kill each other isn't unique; it's just uncomfortable because from the outside you think "You two could be working together if you weren't caught up in your petty differences!"

My first thought at the end of the comic wasn't that though. It's that while the Templar try to move in and eliminate the threat with damage control, these guys just hit restart on wherever the problem is, wiping out everything at once ala "Shoot first and let God sort out the rest."

Well, we don't know what it is yet, and we may not know for sure for a few weeks. For now, I choose to speculate based on what we have.
Hellsing's thing WAS catholic versus protestant, and it WAS based on history, but the story took place in modern day. The idea that the two organizations were killing each other tested my suspension of disbelief because any organization with a moderately intelligent leader would avoid all conflict beyond unfriendly tension at any cost. Even if they aren't allied, it's a complete waste of resources to fight each other when they should both be hunting vampires instead.

It doesn't matter that it took place in the modern day--same goal, different path is a common cause of inner-conflict. I already mentioned federal vs state militia.

As for Hellsing, it was clear that the catholics viewed the Hellsing organization as a similar threat because they used vampires. They may have forgiven the use of Alucard as an exception, but then they got whatshername and it was starting to become a system.

I do love Hellsing, no secret there.

But yes, PK's just a sect of the government similar to our SWAT. Though, as Escushion said, they're more of the "shoot first, ask later" sort than we have today, meant to keep the peace by wiping out possible threats to it.

Hmm...I take it David (if he even appears in this chapter) will know about their methods from experience.
But I don't think he will appear in this chapter...this is one of those things that someone does where they make a chapter/episode/whatever where a particularly important side character is temporarily the main character, right?
