Comics Not Updating - Something is clearly wrong
I surfed to my comic this morning and couldn't help but notice that it hadn't updated to today's page.
I checked, and yes, today's comic has the correct file name.
So I surfed over to SiteAdmin, and I saw that there as 7768 comics waiting to be updated. And it's been sitting at that number for a while; I went back and checked an hour later.
Something's wrong. Just thought someone should be told.

It's up to 7828 now.
I'm fairly convinced that this isn't normal.

It's not normal, but it's happened before. Eventually someone will poke the server with a stick.

Gah! I guess it's a good thing to have one's comic at multiple sites.

I keep checking into "And Shine Heaven Now" and all I get is yesterday's strip! What is happening?

It's up to 8905 comics waiting to be updated now...
Is there any way to contact someone in charge directly so they can do that "poking the server with a stick" thing sooner rather than later? You know, bring it to their attention actively, rather than passively waiting for them to see this thread? Just curious...

Re: Comics Not Updating - Something is clearly wrong
That's odd, I added mine this morning (before seeing this) and it STILL says 8905.
And of course it's not updated.
Since the admins aren't adding to this thread, I'll pm them.---Al

When I did not see mine updated, I checked the forums to see if this was a system-wide problem. With a pending update count of 8,905, I guess that I am not alone!Alschroeder wrote:That's odd, I added mine this morning (before seeing this) and it STILL says 8905.

Thanks for saying that you'll contact the admins, Al. It's good for someone to let them know, without all of us trying to flood their inboxes.

Re: Comics Not Updating - Something is clearly wrong
All comics are now updating on the AutoGenesis engine. Please run an update. A full one will bog the system down on your first one, so let AG work it's magic with a regular update.
I'll postmore tonight. I'm on my iPhone, and it's a PITA to work.

'Shine' still hasn't updated... but I would imagine with such a backlog of comics, it's going to take a while.

I flushed the queue, so please trigger an update now to see your comic.

Re: Comics Not Updating - Something is clearly wrong
The comic starts to appear on the screen, but it appears my page is having loading issues, so all it shows is the word "comic" where the comic should be. The ComicGenesis newsbox isn't showing up, either, and neither are any of CG's ads, if that information helps.

Ditto. My images aren't showing up either. The index wording is showing up, has updated to what I wanted it to say today, but the images don't seem to be loading. ---Al

Re: Comics Not Updating - Something is clearly wrong
I triggered an update through site admin and now my comic is fixed.
Re: Comics Not Updating - Something is clearly wrong
I ran a regular update and my page showed up, but now my site navigation is not even remotely loading because i have most of the buttons in an ***include*** file. The CG wiki says that include files are different: "This tag will act more like the C programming language's #include preprocessor directive statement. If this tag exists in a file, AutoGenesis will load file from /workspace/webpages (instead of /public_html) and insert it in place of the tag before processing any other tags that are in here. AutoGenesis will check for ***include tags first before any other tags. This tag is considered a preprocessing tag. "
Does anyone know anything about C? I don't really understand what this says.

Re: Comics Not Updating - Something is clearly wrong
What's autogenesis? Is it the siteadmin.comicgenesis.com thing? I used that to update, and it sort of worked. Now my front page shows the previous comic (16th), but if I hit "back" and then look at the mini-calendar and select the 19th's comic, I see it.. but it's its own page, not the front page. @_@ I think it screwed up index-osity or something.
EDIT: a "full update" fixed it.

Ah, good; that worked. Ran an update and now Thursday's page is up; there'z no page for Friday--my release schedule is Tues, Thurs, Sat, Sun--so I guess we're up-to-date now!
Thanks for whatever effort it took to get this all back on track!

Re: Comics Not Updating - Something is clearly wrong
I didn't do a "full update" for fear of putting strain on the system, so I put the images manually into the comics directory of the active directory, rather than the workspace directory, and that worked.---
