Lao, my comic stil won't auto-update its butt! XP [SOLVED]

Post by Gaisen-sama »

Seriously though, a few weeks ago there was a thread 4 pages long on this topic, who know where it went know. The bottomless abyss of forgotten threads lol.

Anyways, I digress... my comic won't auto-update. I'm think maybe you guys changed the "put the date at the beginning of the file name" thingy. Either that or I'm just naming my comics the wrong way, ie.: "20080929_VBD_C01_TBC.jpg". But it's like that right? YYYYMMDD

Or did you change it to YYMMDD? Wait, but that wouldn't make sense and it would only mess up the whole system.

So... what is it?

Yes, it's YYYYMMDD.ext - I don't know if it is affecting it that you are adding more characters on the end. I know that one can put an additional letter on the end if you want to have more than one comic showing up on the same day in a specific order, but I don't know if there is a limit on the number of extra characters.

As to why the auto-update isn't working ... I don't know.

The first thing to do is to check you comic settings and make sure that AutoUpdate is set to Yes. Other than that, there isn't much you can do from your end...

I would definately consider trying to put up the next ones as JUST YYYYMMDD.jpg if auto update turned off isn't the problem. No extra frills about it....

Hmm, well, when I request an regular update the pages update just fine, in the right order, and the daily pages are created normally. So if you think about it, the name of the file really isn't the problem. And I don't like to put more than one page per day though.

Anyways, I'm gonna see what the auto-update is set to.

*checking*

Yup, you were right guys, for some reason it was on OFF. I think I know what happened to everyone then. All the auto-updates were set to OFF and I bet most people who complained about it didn't now it had an ON/OFF switch.

Thanks again, Lao and Metruis.

Snrk... but I was one of the people who complained, and it started auto updating when everyone else's did. It was just a backlog. I knew it had an on-off switch, actually, and did check that...

Interesting to know that pages update with more characters at the end...

Be aware that this is the old server. Posts made here after the 4th of October 2008 will not be indexed (and will most likely be deleted in another week or so).

In the meantime, use http://forums2.comicgenesis.com/ - this is a short-term workaround while the servers are getting some maintenance. When we return to the normal forums, STrRedWolf will post another announcement.

I'm locking this thread to help people find the most current information - from http://forums2.comicgenesis.com/
