I uploaded a newsbox image and a new pog almost three weeks ago and they still haven't been approved. Who updates them and how can I get ahold of them and draw their attention to this delay, and ask if there's something wrong with the images or what?

When you upload the pog / newsbox it is automatically made available to the review team that approve / deny these things. Sometimes they are seen straight away, sometimes it takes a bit of time. The people in charge of this do it in their spare time with no compensation, so hassling them won't help your cause.
Give it another week, and if they are still not approved / denied, then post again here.
