Images don't show up [solved]

Post by Agrilledfish »

Hello, I read the FAQ, but I am still having troubles. Sorry!

1) I uploaded my images (title.gif and subscribe.png) to /workspace/images/
2) I uploaded dailytemplate and indextemplate to /workspace
3) Triggered a full update

However, the two images I uploaded aren't showing.

Here's the code I've been using for the two images:

Code: Select all

<img src="/images/title.gif" />

Code: Select all

<a href="http://aaaaa.comicgenesis.com/rss.xml"><img src="/images/subscribe.png" /></a>
The images appear to be present in my FTP client. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? My comic is linked in my signature.

I was having a look at your code and could see no obvious problems.

The only thing I can think of is the doctype declaration at the top of the page. It says you're using XHTML 1.0, but I don't know exactly how that works. i'm pretty sure you've go it right (with the /> at the end of the img tags), so I don't see why it wouldn't be working.

1) Try deleting the images and re-uploading them (if it works, they should show up without needing to trigger an update).

2) Try using a standard img tag close (such as /title.gif">) instead of an xhtml tag. This one will require an update.

As far as I can tell, you've done everything right. Hopefully someone who knows a bit more may notice something...

Thank you for your quick reply! I tried both 1 and 2, but to no avail. And now there's a new problem, as if I needed any more of those...I uploaded pictures for the next, previous, first and last buttons, but these are not showing up either. I uploaded them in /workspace/images under the names first_day.png, next_day.png, etc. However, the images do not show up on my page. More problems! But thank you for your help anyway.

EDIT: I've made the temporary solution of linking my images from http://xs.to. Of course, I'd eventually like to host my images directly on comicgenesis.

You pictures are title.GIF and subscribe.PNG - not .gif and .png. If you change your code to capitals or your files to lowercase it should work.

You might check that your buttons have lowercase extensions - it might be the issue.

Thank you! This solved it perfectly.

Damn case-sensitive code...reminds me of my annoying Java days. :P
