Keenspot know full well that CGen is down, assume they're doing their best. They are still human, y'know. Trust them, Stred and Kisai to get everything up and running again.
And for god's sakes, don't bother the advertisers, they know too and they're still running ads on Spot, so it's not like they aren't getting their money's worth.
...and another thing

...and while you're fixing the free server, could you also change my diaper for free, get me a ba-ba for free, and sing me to sleep...for free?

As near as I can tell, the entire site was down from last night through this morning.
Much pain am I feeling, as my readership melts away.

Sorry, "e", I guess you can just speed dial your readers and let all 5 of them know that you're experiencing some technical difficulties.

Oi, none of that please! He's got a point, even if he did put it poorly. CG's providing you a service for free, which is pretty damn convieniant. And frankly, yes, it's damn rare that it does this. I was with them from 2002 to last year, and I can count on one hand the amount of times this has happened.

He didn't put it poorly.
He was pretty damn insulting. I don't take that from 14 year olds.

Then ignore that bit and read the post I made instead.

Fine,
the fact remains that the site is down, it's been having a LOT of trouble and the repair teams themselves have been ignored by Keenspot.
That's what we're complaining about.
The squeeky wheel gets the new server.

Sniping at each other and complaining is not going to get anything done. The admins know there is a problem, Spot knows there is a problem, everyone who needs to know there is a problem knows there is a problem.
So quit it because all you're doing is riling yourselves up.

Noted.
Entering calm-down phase.
Phasers dialed back down to stun.
Torches extinguished.
Writer steps back from the edge.

It just feels like the higher ups don't
cares that there is a problem. This is not a one time incident this has been happening for over a month. And before we started pitching tantrum we did not even get an explanation. In fact no one even mentioned that the server crashed the first few times even though I am sure they knew about it.
This is not a free service as people keep on saying. We generate revenue for Keen by having ad space over every comic and on ever page. We are more like employees. We generate content and Keen pays us in hosting. Except now our “pay” is being cut and we are told to just shut up about it.
I was doing a good business with my comic before this happened. Now this month is totally blown as revenue is concerned. I am hemorrhaging readers and my artist (who I pay) is getting ready to bolt. So excuse me if I behave like an ill mannered child. I want to hear not only does every one from the top down knows about this problem but that everyone in the top down CARES about this problem. And if contact advertisers or anyone else I can think of will make this problem priority one to the people with the money that is what I am going to do and encourage others to do.

Jeez, that's a stretch. Your 'pay' is cut, but so is the revenue you're giving to Spot, so it's not like they don't know they're losing out here. It IS a free service, you are not paying them a thing.

Have you noticed who most of the ads are for? Right now, at the top of the page? Heeey, it's Keenspot!
Bear in mind, you've always got the option to find your own hosting if you don't like leaving your tech problems in the hands of others, Spot even offers a free archive code to let you do that.

Really? Can you point me to that code please? I'm not being sarcastic here, I really think it would help me when the time comes.
Thanks.

Thanks.
Not to derail the complaint thread, but do you know anyone who has used this archiving for their external site?
Thanks,
Ed

y'know, just offhand, i'm sure that all parties involved know full well they know what's going on, and what's wrong with the system, etc.
as for a new server, well, things like that cost a fair amount of money, and time to aquire and set up.. it's not like they can go to the local mcdonald's and get one with their happy meal.
Given comicgen's a free service, you'll have to excuse me while i scoff at those raving on how their "revenue" is being affected, if you're getting revenue, then stop being a tightwad and buy hosting that bitching at for being down is actually justified.
this sorta thing doesn't happen often, i'll admit, i'm on hiatus, so it doesn't affect me either way, as for all your readers, i'm VERY certain they'll get over it.
so, i'll take the time out to call all those complaining, right utter idiots. all running around screaming like the proverbial chicken little of old, shouting "the sky is falling, the sky is falling"..
look, folks, welcome to the wonderful world of website hosting, these things happen, no server will run like a swiss timepiece indefinitely, GET OVER IT.

I can't recall names, but quite a few who left Spot used Autokeen lite afterwards. A few members of Blank Label, for example.

As you pointed out, this doesn't really concern you right now, so if you'll drop the namecalling...

So, do you prefer Putz or Shmuck? As you pointed out, this doesn't really concern you right now, so if you'll drop the namecalling...
if my readership can take a two-month long hiatus, yours can take a couple of weeks of server issues. That's all i'm saying.
if you wanted to complain that the server's being finicky, that's fine, you made your point across..
and no, it doesn't particularly concern me, but i'm looking at actually rebuilding my site's design this month, so that might concern me in the future.
