Well, root toot! And there's almost 1,000 less on the queue than last I looked, yay!

Now the big question is, are we going to go through this nonsense again on Monday?

I still don't know if it's postfix doing it, or postfix errors are the symptom.

What is strange, and don't draw conclusions from this... but the first time it outaged on this graph, correspond with Kelly Logging in.

The second 6am, also has a pile of errors from postfix regarding mysql.

When we get the new server, whenever that is, everything is getting hand rebuilt manually to prevent stuff like this from happening.

Should we maybe assemble a mob, bearing torches and those rake things peasants carry in Frankenstein movies, and demand the new server forthwith?

It works in the movies!

Whenever

As stated, we keep being promised a new server, and none has shown up, I will not give an ETA on something beyond my control.

Looks like I spoke too soon earlier. The queue is approaching 3200 now, and I note that my comic still hasn't updated, 47 hours after it was supposed to. And with what's been said here, it doesn't look hopeful it or Monday's comic will go up on time, if at all.

It's an awfully good thing that I haven't built up a big readership to lose, or they'd all be gone by now. I can identify with the frustration of others though, even though it's beyond the ability of good folks like Kisai to fix at this point.

Kudos to Kisai and her compatriots for trying so hard to deal with this, just the opposite to whoever's been footdragging and thus bringing down CG and a lot of innocent creative individuals in the process.

I'm glad the forums are up so that I could check into this - I had a little heart attack when my SmartFTP wasn't allowing me access to http://evilneedscandytoo.comicgenesis.com/

I'm still stuck in queue with a lot of the others - but understand that things are happening around in the site - so I appreciate someone letting us know regardless.

Kisai,

I've been one of the loudest complainers during this and previous outages, and I want you to know that I absolutely appreciate everything you are doing. I think I speak for us all when I say we do not blame you.

What can we as a community do to help get a new server? Is there an email address we can all write to or a castle we can storm?

This doesn't make sense... There was absolutely no outage today, yet the database was corrupted in the dispatch table (that's the thing that has X comics in queue) I cleaned that up and autokeen started running again.

MySQL
Uptime: 1 day 50 min 45 sec

Threads: 6 Questions: 6670861 Slow queries: 318 Opens: 788 Flush tables: 1 Open tables: 37 Queries per second avg: 74.581

yes 6.6 million queries in one day.

so does this mean that we should see them updating soon? or maybe by tomorrow?

The queue is at four thousand…man, I kind of hope it reaches nine so I can say it…

You know “Its over NINE thousand!”

Oh and thanks for all the hard work tech people, please keep at it!

Yeah, I'm not usually one to complain either. But this has been my absolute worst month so far, and I've been around since September 2006. So about 10 months. And I'm getting less hits per day than I was back in my very first month, when only one comic a week was being produced, compared to the three a week now. (and the quality wasn't as good as it is now)

So, yeah, I'm hurting pretty bad. I can't even fix my layout while this problem is going on, which I need to do badly. I appreciate everything the moderators do, but if this keeps up, I may need to move my site elsewhere.

at least our visitors aren't getting 'page cannot be displayed' anymore. Just explain things to them. they should understand. I'm way down too... 15 today with an average of 50. but i totally acknowledge the fact that i could drop like 10 bucks a month on a godady domain and not have to stress over downtime.

To be fair, comic genesis isnt normally down - and since we pay nothing for this, we can't really complain about the occasional outage! They are working as hard as they can to get everything back to normal! (Luckily for me my comic seems to have updated and i only need one update a week!)

Hope everything gets sorted soon!
