Can't get into Siteadmin >_<

Post by Floppity »

I just keep getting the blank Login page. I read the siteadmin sticky, but no such luck with an answer of how to get in. I tried using my forum name, my comic name (mycomic.comicgenesis.com). Nothing for either of them no matter how many times I tried.

I apologize for making another thread on this, I'm sure there have been quite a few. Anyways, help would be much appreciated!

Floppity: Hang in there... there is a backlog of updates going through this evening due to the earlier server problems. If you are still having problems after the Admin (StrRedWolf) notifies us that everything is fixed, then you may need to contact him directly.

OK, I didn't know there was something like that going on tonight. Thanks for the info. Oh, how does the Admin notify us? I'll just stay on the forum and keep an eye-out :)

Floppity: There is a thread entitled "Is Autokeen Down this Morning" where people have posted their notices about the sites not updating. StrRedWolf posted in that thread that things looked as if they were working properly now.

At the moment, it is a matter of clearing out all the comics sites in the queue that were waiting to be updated, which is a slow process. I just checked and there are still over 1000 comics that are being updated.

You can keep trying to get in, but any changes you make to your site won't show up for hours due to the amount of folks ahead of you.

Unfortunately, I would say to give up on the wait tonight and try again tomorrow as it will take hours for the queue to clear. And then it will be time for regularly scheduled updates to begin for those US comics that update at midnight.

Well apparently its running now, but I still get the same damn login screen. Truth be told, I have never successfully logged in to the siteadmin (I tried Comic Genesis before, and that was the reason I dropped it to begin with). Am I doing something wrong or what? I'm very frustrated with this, I apologize.

I'm getting the same problem, actually. I'm very new, so excuse me, but first I try the thing that says it's been depreciated, even though that's what it says to do in the tutorial- since that doesn't work I follow the instructions and go to the SiteAdmin, where I type my name, password, and hit Submit. And then it takes me to the same site and has a link to the login page, which I get transferred automatically to after a few moments.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there another, working, way to update my things?

I am also unable to login to the siteadmin page. I am using my forum user/pass and I am logged into the forum when trying to use siteadmin. I have the same problems with both IE and Firefox. I am on XP Pro with SP2 and have tried it with firewall and without. m My suspicion is that this is a server problem. Can anyone confirm this? Also can anyone confirm that siteadmin is working for them?

No luck for me, either. Same symptoms.

As of 7:14am CST, I was able to get into Siteadmin without any trouble.

You folks are using your forum username and password, and not your comic account's username and password, right?

Well, this AM, I can't get in! What's up?'

Edited to say: I tried again about 3 minutes later and got in fine. Once in, I noted that there were 15 comics in the queue to be updated. I wonder if a big queue (as in more than 10) comics in the queue affects log ins?

Hmmm, it's been two to three days since I got my comic and forum accounts and I haven't successfully logged in once. Is there someone I can contact about this?

Yes, you can contact StrRedwolf, our Admin. StrRedWolf has a new full-time job, so don't expect an immediate response, but you will get one-on-one assistance.

Here's a final, thorough step-by-step guide before you contact an admin:

1) Go to http://siteadmin.comicgenesis.com . This is the new n' official siteadmin, the old one still has links to it floating around here and there but is no longer in use.

2) Enter your FORUM username and password. Check for capitalization and such.

3) Once in, add in a comic to your account by entering your comic name (i.e. if your site is comicname.comicgenesis.com , enter comicname. NOT comicname.comicgenesis.com ) and password (this is the password to your FTP account, not necessarily the same as your forum password).

Now, if this is not working, check for the following:
1) Do you have cookies enabled?
2) Are you running a firewall? If so, disable it. Contrary to what some people would have you believed, your computer will not spontaneously explode if you disable it for a few moments.
3) Have you tried a forced refresh of the page (in IE, hold down shift while you click "refresh") and deleting your cache?

Sorry for restating some of the stuff that has been said already, but I prefer not to take any chance and start from the beginning when trying to diagnose a newbie's problem. ('newbie' used without any insulting meaning)

Alas, this produced no change for me. I even logged out of the forums and back in to confirm that I was using the correct password.

I'll try deleting any comicgenesis cookies... nope, no effect. Guess I will have to try emailing the admin. :(

10... big?

Try 4800 or so. Or 7500. Or 12000. When that bad boy gets jammed up, it gets jammed up good and PROPER.

I'd suspect that the jammed-status of the queue does not relate to the ability to log in. They might have some relation - but logging in to find a jammed queue is common.

Oh *bonk* You're right, of course! I recall logging in to find the queue at 3000 or so..

(apparently, one pot of coffee isn't near enough to wake up my brain.)

Yeah... I still can't. I read some of this beforehand and made my usernames and passwords the same for the thing and these forums, so there would be no confusion... I've done every logical capitalization combination (including "What if I accidentally had CapsLock on when I registered the password?"), I even tried my old original confirmation password. SiteAdmin does not like me, and I am totally unable to do anything with my site.

Strange. I can log in with my own account easily.

I'm going to ping Kisai here. I have a feeling the server's aren't synced right after I cleaned them out. At the very worst I'll have to tweak Siteadmin's setup.
