Are we allowed to have Google Ads on our site?
I assume we're talking about google adSense?
o.0? I never saw anything like that...
Google lists the requirements here:

Woah woah woah woah, WOAH! HOLD IT!! I was told, and it is found on the FAQ on the CGWiki, that we can NOT have Google ads!

Someone has the wrong or outdated info. And I'd really like a clear "yes/no" on this.

Ah, ah! Wiki was written by everyone! We should get the admins to POST something on the FORUMS, where it's not EDITABLE.Mercury Hat wrote:Oh, that's new. Okay then, listen to the wiki, it was written by the admins. No google ads, then.

Hm... I thought they only prohibited putting google ads on a page with other ads that "Mimic google ads" or are "contextually targeted."
Though since CG doesn't allow them, it's really a moot point
.
I suppose CG's ads *might* be "contextually-targeted," but that makes me wonder about the clown....Google AdSense Policies wrote: Competitive Ads and Services
We do not permit Google ads or search boxes accessing Google search services to be published on web pages that also contain what could be considered competing ads or services. If you have elected to receive contextually-targeted Google ads, this would include all other contextually-targeted ads or links on the same page as Google ads. This would also include ads throughout the site that mimic Google ads or otherwise appear to be associated with Google on your site. Although you may sell ads directly on your site, it is your responsibility to ensure these ads do not mimic Google ads. If you have elected to receive Google search services, this would include other search services on the same site and non-Google query-targeted ads. We do allow affiliate or limited-text links.

See the problem therein is that you can' t have two google ads on your site, since one of our advertisers through burst.net seems to randdomly pop up google ads.
IMO, google ads do not work with webcomics unless you transcribe the content of the comic into every page. Also, the robots.txt is set to very restrictive by default (you'd have to allow google to crawl your site) for google to work. It hits only the non-archive pages. FYI, it's set like ths so google doesn't cache your comic.
There is nothing wrong with selling ads DIRECTLY on your site, ads you have control over that you know do not look like google ads.Although you may sell ads directly on your site, it is your responsibility to ensure these ads do not mimic Google ads.

I don't know, is that what is meant? Or did you mean something else?Google AdSense Program Policies wrote:Up to three ad units may be displayed on each Web site page.

I think it means that a single person registered with google ads can have up to three ad units on a page. However, multiple persons registered with google ads cannot have ads on the same pages.-Fanny pack wrote:Are you sure?Kisai wrote:See the problem therein is that you can' t have two google ads on your site, since one of our advertisers through burst.net seems to randdomly pop up google ads.I don't know, is that what is meant? But that's just my take on it. Kisai, did you or another admin check with Google to make sure?
