RSS problem: will not acknowledge update...
Hello,
Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else...
I am part of a comics web directory that uses the rss file for my keenspace comic http://marcusninja.keenspace.com to update their site as to whether I have put up new comics. The problem is that it worked for the first week and now it seems like the RSS file isn't recognizing when the comic is updated even though it is still updating properly (for example we update Fridays... the comic for today has appeared but is not reflected in the "last update" thing on the RSS...
Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? Much appreciated.

Re rss stuff...
Thanks for the prompt reply, but I'm a little confused... what can I do to solve this problem? I've been putting my comics in the workspace/comics folder... I was under the impression that when the date came, the comic was embedded in indextemplate.html and moved over to public_html...
Does this mean for my rss to acknowledge an update I have to manually go in and move things around by ftp every week or is there a workaround?
Also while I have you on the line I was hoping to ask about banners... I am having a hard time doing the guide banner thing but I don't know if it's broken or I'm a moron. I put the banner into my images directory a week ago, but when I try to access it through my web browser it says it doesn't exist. Any thoughts?
Thanks so much for your help

If you're trying to access it directly by the URL as in http://comic.keenspace.com/images/banner.jpg then it won't load due to anti-hotlinking.
RSS only updates and displays when you have a new comic (that autokeen shifts from workspace/comics to public_html/comics

Hey thanks for chiming in... still confused though...
1) so that anti-hotlinking thing... does that mean I can't link the banner to another site, say for example a web comic directory? In that case why even have banner support?
2) My comic has been updating every friday for the last two weeks on the website, and yet the rss.xml file hasn't acknowledged an update since the first one... am I doing something wrong? Is there some sort of troubleshooting I can do for this?'
Thanks again for all your help, there's a lot to learn in the world of webcomics

Youre welcome. I'll be franks and admit I don't see why your RSS isn't working, but...marcusninja wrote:Hey thanks for chiming in... still confused though...

You can't link your banners DIRECTLY from your Keenspace account from other pages. If you want to globalise them banner, you have to have them linked through the Guide.
Instructions on how to do that here:

Checked my comics directory...
Thanks for the info about banners, though I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong when it asks for the banner path. I have my banner in the images folder in public_html so I've written as the path public_html/images/banner01.jpg but it says it doesn't exist on the butch server...
Also, Kisai, I checked my comics directory in the public_html folder and it has 4 comics in there, the latest dated for the last update my site did for Friday... yet my rss.xml is not recognizing an update... is there any other information that might be of help? I hate to keep bugging you but a lot of webdirectories use the xml file to inform when the comic updates, and having that function disabled is kind of a bummer... Any help really appreciated

Problem solved I think...
So I think the problem is solved... I'll just mention what I did in case anyone thinks they can benefit...
Turns out that my keenspace account had somehow generated the pages already for future dates of comics. So it wasn't the comic images in my public_html/comics folder, it was actually the html pages in my public_html/d/ folder... I erased the newer ones and voila, the web directory registered an update for the site.
So yeah, hopefully that's of some use to people... Any ideas why it would have generated all those html pages for comics whose dates hadn't come around yet?
