my comics aren't showing up

Post by Bluesrock »

i'm using the web-ftp connected to the butch server. i've loaded all my comics and dated them 20041128.jpg so, they'll all show up at once. the only thing i get is the index page and a unwanted comic on the side. how do i get rid of this comic? where are my navigation buttons that are auto loaded? when i log in to butchserver, i get public html and workspace folder. there is nothing underneath the index of/ line. when i click on public html, there is an index html and a rss.xml under the index of/ public html line. there is absolutely nothing in the comics, d, images , or w folders. when i click on workspace, there is indextemplate.html and daily template.html under the line of index of/ workspace. when i click on comics folder, all my dated cartoons are there. there is absolutely nothing under images or webpage folders. i've updated manually but nothing seems to happen. what am i doing wrong? also i don;t know if this makes a difference but i deleted everything before i loaded the comics and had to load a indextemplate.html and daily template.html.

You already started a thread on with some of those questions here. Stick to one please. Post new questions on same thread.

And please separate your questions with newlines or paragraphs. It's a pain to read otherwise.

How many comics do you have in your archive?

when i log onto http://sitename.keenspace.com/rss.xml and check my update it says <pubDate>Tue, 30 Nov 2004 15:45:03 PST</pubDate. does that mean it hasn't updated yet, if i made a change now?

It means your late comic was update then, not the page.

Of those 155 jpgs in your workspace/comics, are they dated before or after the current date? Can you give an example of the filename.

It might also help if you posted the contents of your indextemplate.

Blues, as soon as manual update stops hiccupping, the changes I've made to the filenames should show up. In theory, I've fixed your problems, and left your files numbered, as well as dated, so you can tell which ones are which. They'll all post at the same time, when manual update works again (which I can't imagine taking more than a few hours), but they'll have their own pages.

Also, as to the web-ftp question, you should be working on your html changes on your computer, and then uploading, not trying to alter things on the server, while you're connected.
I did not possess you, but I can blow up history.
