Keenspace needs a PR guy

You know, someone who deals with notifying everyone quickly when a technical problem comes up, like the recent server crash. They'd also keep people up to date on what repairs are being made, what upgrades, etc. etc. A PR guy would let the techies do what they need to do and not be distracted by dealing with upset cartoonists.

yeah, but the best we can do is watch the yahoo newsgroup and the news page and gear and that other one that i can't remember. Keenspace is set up so only a few people can fix the huge amount of bad code, and it doesn't get better on the public front. Sorry.

The News page on Keenspace.com doesn't even work. I realize the programmers are working hard to resolve the server situation, but there's hundreds of KeenSpace kiddies floundering around wondering what the hell is going on.

I'm just saying, it would be nice if there's one person whose job is just to keep people up-to-date with what's going on. If a server goes down, one of the techies would e-mail and/or IM him (or her), then go do what needs to be done. The PR guy would then forward on the information to everyone else.

An e-mail list that isn't just Yahoo would be nice, as well.

I try to do that with the Gear, but my only source of info is the Admin list.

The other problem lies in that being on KeenSpace itself, I can't update the Gear with the news about why nothing will update.

This is why we need the re-form! This whole thing has been a communication nightmare. Let's learn from the mess and come out stronger.

All that really would be necessary would be a few more forum annnouncements. It's nice having the forum on a different server so that crashes usually leave at least one alive.
