I feel exactly the same way and I'd like to know what can be done to kill my delusion that I'm growing more popular. Could someone host the logos or something?
------------------

Since I signed up on the keenspace top 100 list, I've been getting a lot of hits and file requests because the top 100 list page puts up my Odd Jobs logo.
Would that also affect my visits stats or my page request stats? I've noticed that my visits stats have outnumbered my page request stats, but that can't be right!

------------------

I put my logo on my personal site and linked to it from the top 100 sites.
I'll have to see today if things settle down. I usually see a jump in readership by late afternoon.
Regardless, I think I've seen a good general growth in readership, just not the incredible one I got in the last few days.

------------------

Considering not even 50 spaces are taken up yet, I'm positive you can get yours on there.

Which non-keen URL did you use? It bothers me that I cannot see how much I am failing right now.

quote:
Originally posted by Howard:

I now post a non-keen URL for my logo, and it's worked like a char4m. FYI, "Pages" is not going to be incremented by someone deep-linking your URL off your site, but "Visits" and "Sites" will. So those numbers CAN outnumber pages.

I look at my page views now, and take heart in that. They've gone up steadily, even though my other stats have gone down significantly since moving my logo.

If this is a plug then where's the socket? Yes, I thought this was good when I wrote itstole it.

I have a homepage with a different host (one which I PAY for). My logo is at http://www.tayler.com/img/schlocklogo.gif. You might try the same trick with Yahoo Geocities, or something like that. Beware, though.

Some free-hosting sites are putting a stop to deep-linking by checking the referrer address, and denying requests for certain types of files that do not originate from a local referrer. This may seem like an unfair practice, but since they only get ad revenue if their ads are displayed, providing free hosting for images without the chance of an ad banner going up is a little much to expect.

Anyway, the point is that you may want to host the logo on a free-hosting site, but before you do make sure that you can access it from an HTML document that resides off-site.

[/B]

Right. That was why I asked. I wonder if it would be easier on everyone if we had a logos.keenspace.com.

------------------
