Norton gave me an alert for ComicGenesis
Hi, I went to update my comic today, and I suddenly got complaints from both Norton and Firefox that the site was not secure. I bypassed the warnings and updated the comic, but what's going on? Has the site been infected with something?

notorious norton again
The certificate is just improperly set up or something; it's been like that for years. Unless siteadmin starts asking for your credit card information, I wouldn't be too concerned. I think Firefox has just been getting more anal about certificates lately.
edit: if you want to be really safe, just make sure your Comic Genesis password isn't the same one you use for really important accounts, like your bank login. That's good advice in general, really.

Re: Norton gave me an alert for ComicGenesis
I'm glad to hear it's a false alarm, but the fact remains that simply navigating to my comic causes these big scary alerts from Norton and Firefox to pop up. I have to assume it's the same for many readers trying to visit my comic or any of the others on ComicGenesis (I checked "Mansion of E" and got the same alert). This is terrible. Please, is there anything you can do at your end (or that I can do at my end) to stop this? It's the equivalent of a restaurant getting a huge sign slapped on its front window falsely claiming its food carries plague.
Here's the message from Norton, which pops up when I navigate to it in Safari. You can see why I'm concerned:
"BLOCKED BY NORTON by Symantec
"Dangerous Web Page Blocked
"You attempted to access:http://bobadventures.comicgenesis.com/
"This is a known dangerous web page. It is highly recommended that you do NOT visit this page.
"Visit Norton to learn more about phishing and internet security.
"Continue to the site

aaaaack.
Oh sorry, i thought you were talking about siteadmin. Anyway, I'm not getting any warning messages using AVG antivirus with either Firefox or Edge, so I'd say the problem is on Norton's end. I had a look around, and it seems they've tagged the entirety of Comic Genesis as infected because a single account (going by the name of "renova") got infected.
I guess we'll have to bring it up with either Norton or our admins (I'm sending a PM to strredwolf right now).

Hi. It's been a few days, and Norton is still giving the warning for the site.

how do you @, fellow kids
StrRedWolf hasn't seen my PM. He seems to be active on Twitter, so I've tried tweeting him. We'll see how that goes.

Thank you. I'm surprised if I'm the only one contacting you about this, if the problem is across the whole site as it appears to be from my end. Please keep me informed.

@ghosttown
That's not too surprising; this place has been a ghost town for a long time now. Anyway, here's the twitter thread if you want to follow it:

Like ships on a sinking rat.....wait.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but now the updater's stuck, and it's looking less and less likely that things are going to be fixed. You may want to consider jumping ship. Smackjeeves has a mass-uploader that can ease the inconvenience of a transition.

Re: Norton gave me an alert for ComicGenesis
Wow, it's finally come to this. I've been here since 2006, you know that? Updating twice a week for... well, most of that time, I finally hit my 1,000 strip mark a couple of months ago. This month is my... ha, 13th anniversary. CG served me well for a long time.
I've got everything backed up, of course. And I've got a 3 day weekend coming up and was wondering how to make the most constructive use of it. I guess that settles that. SmackJeeves ahoy.
Even so, I'd be very happy if this could all be fixed before then. We've had false signs of impending host site death before.

Better late than never.
Well, at least Norton has stopped tagging Comic Genesis as unsafe now.
