They'll have to go somewhere else; the /data/ folder is only used by Autokeen for the storyline dropdown - a good idea would be to create a subfolder in /images/, unless you feel comfortable creating one in /public_html/.<P>You'd link to them as normal eg:
<font color=blue face="courier new"><a href="<font color=black>/images/fiction/somestory.doc</font>" target=blank><font color=black>Some Story</font></a></font>
<i>(target=blank opens the file in a new window, handy since the story has no link back)</i>
I'm not sure how *.doc files are handled tho', weither the browsers would open them or prompt for a download - you'll just have to try and see. If that's the case you'll have to make them html pages and put them through the system.<P>As for file downloads, just link to the file as you would anything else, just make sure it's comic related - Keenspace isn't a file server. If you still feel unsure <a href=mailto:help@keenspace.com>ask the wranglers</a>, they know the policies on this better than I.<P>------------------

The various file formats not handled by the browser it's self (common images, html, css, and JavaScript) ar handeled by, surprise, content handelers or plugins. This is a user/client/reader thing, most things that meant to be used as plugins automatically register themseleves as such in windows. At least for mozilla and IE for windows, if you right-click on the link and select save link/target as ..., you can download the file, the open it by clicking a button in the download window.<P>------------------

Some more questions for you guys here. Starting a story/fanfic section and I can't get any of it to show. All stories are written in .doc format and I uploaded them into my data folder. Should it be there or someplace else? And how would I get it to open when someone clicks on it? Would I need to just copy and paste as regular HTML text?<P>And how do I put objects up for download? Say, If I had a small zip file or something or a quick sound file, how could people click on it and get it to download?<P>Thank you!

You are welcome to create a folder/directory in /public-html and put them in there, but...<P>well...<P>Not everyone has the latest version of MS Word. Export it to HTML format, will 'ya? HTML is readable by everyone.<P>------------------

If you do export to HTML from word, beware. I've heard a lot of "bad things" about it, but I haven't actually tested it. Perhaps you should just save it as a good old ASCII text file. Hard to get more universal than that.<P>------------------
